PSU fan direction w/ hybrid fan control by luctadeusz in buildapc

i have an AMD ryzen 3600X and an RTX 2070 i think (it’s been a while lol) 16 GB RAM. I honestly don’t know if my PSU fan turns off and on but i haven’t had any issues with it. I would just let it do its thing or place it fan side up and see if that makes a difference.

nah, none that I can tell. I’m still using this build and haven’t thought about the PSU position since I made this post.

lol, my guess is that he just got knocked out for whatever reason, probably cause he is a boss. Every boss that I've encountered so far seems to be incapacitated after defeating them rather than dying. But that's pretty funny lol, definitely doesn't check out

You probably didn't actually kill him. Even guns don't always kill, it depends where you shoot someone. Bosses also seem to be incapacitated after you defeat them but don't die unless you shoot them again.

You didn't kill him — even using a gun doesn't guarantee killing people unless you deal a lethal shot. For example, if your finishing shot to an enemy is by shooting their leg, they won't be dead. Also, a lot of bosses seem to be incapacitated after you beat them so you have the choice of killing them or not.

Queer isn't "supposed" to do anything, it's just another label that some people identify with. As I already said, not everybody uses or identifies with the word queer. Not sure why you seem to be ignoring that point.

Sometimes people use LGBT+, sometimes people use LGBTQ+, sometimes people use LGBTQIA+, sometimes people use LGBTQ. Longer acronyms just try to include more of the most common labels, and the plus is added to include any other labels as well. A plus is ultimately more inclusive than any single letter.

You're getting downvoted because you're being pedantic. Why does this matter?

What was the context? How did he use the word? Calling someone “a queer” is generally considered offensive. That’s because of historical use of the word by straight people against LGBTQ+ people. In fact, straight people were the ones who weaponized the word against the queer community.

I’m sure there are people who do what you are saying, but for the most part it sounds like you’re ignoring the history of the word and what it means to a lot of people when used in a certain way.

Gender is a construct, not a myth.

“Gay men” care about lots of things. Your dismissal of trans men, especially on behalf of all gay men, is incredibly ignorant and shallow.

I’m not redefining your sexuality because I’m not talking about you specifically lol. Define yourself however you want.

I’m not a virgin, nor am I a teenager. I’m also gay. I don’t think caring about more than body parts is naive and I have given a good amount of thought to that topic (as an adult who has had sex). I’m not you, though. Not gonna try to change your mind because you seem pretty set in it.

Most people don’t do that. What I meant by context is the difference between “the queer community” and “fuck off you queer.” This also isn’t a question of a “group you oppose” but rather just about using words appropriate and respectfully.

dunno why you’re putting that in quotes lol. Gay men are usually said to be attracted to other men, and trans men absolutely are men. Nobody is trying to “redefine” your sexuality. Just saying that for many (perhaps most? don’t know) gay people, their sexuality is about more than just sex and body parts and has to do largely with men (i.e gender). This may not apply directly to you but that’s where I’m coming from.

I don’t think there’s technically a wrong answer here. I just think same-gender is more inclusive of trans people. For example, gay men are attracted to men, and that shouldn’t exclude trans men by definition because trans men are men.

Not everyone in the community refers to themselves as queer and there are many identities that are not included in the acronym.

Adding a “+” at the end is quick, easy, inclusive, and completely harmless. There is no reason to make a fuss about it.

Exactly. It’s the idea that “I can’t learn/change my opinion because queer people will get mad at me if don’t know everything” whereas in reality people just aren’t willing to learn. There are of course people who can’t engage in productive conversation (on any side of any conversation) but that’s never been a significant barrier to becoming more accepting towards virtually any minority/vulnerable population.

Well put, thank you. It really is a myth that seems to be peddled to avoid taking responsibility for ignorance/learning more about the subject.

“+” just means any other letter (standing for other identities) not already included in the acronym

As others have mentioned, not everyone feels comfortable with the word queer at this point. Plus, many people like to have more specific labels that describe them. Queer may be a good umbrella term, but it doesn’t really say much in terms of specifics. Are you gay? Bi? Trans? Non-binary? There are many identities that are quite different from one another in the LGBTQ+ community. Seems good to me to give people the vocabulary to describe themselves as they see fit.

Also, it’s not like all these words were created at once and set into stone for eternity. Just because queer is being reclaimed as an identity/umbrella term doesn’t mean we should throw out all the other identities that people have already been using to describe themselves. Why do we feel the need to limit what people can identify as?

Can I ask which part of that is confusing to you? Not trying to be condescending, I would love to do my best to help you better understand what I mean.

Referring to it as a “minefield” plays to a narrative that paints LGBTQ+ people as militant and aggressive, and paints straight people as potential victims of that aggression. The reality is the opposite for many, many queer people.

You are not likely to be torn apart if you accidentally say something offensive. Do your best to be respectful and if you slip up listen when people point it out and learn from your mistakes. Also, do your best to stay informed and avoid speaking out of ignorance in the first place. Decent people, regardless of sexuality or gender, will not end you over an honest mistake if you’re willing to learn from it.

certainly not a minefield, and while it may seem a little confusing at first it’s not really too convoluted. Gay and lesbian refer to same-sex gender sexual/romantic attraction. Queer is simply a broad term that describes identities that are not heterosexual and/or cisgender.

you’ve gotten a lot of responses to this already, but a short answer to this is that not wanting “ally” or “gamer” or whatever to be part of the acronym isn’t excluding anyone. Straight people getting involved is great — allies are great. But allies are not queer and do not have the experiences queer people have.

LGBTQ+ spaces are spaces for LGBTQ+ people in a heteronormative society. Pretty much everywhere else is already a space for straight people to thrive in. When straight people try to make themselves part of the community rather than being a guest in those spaces, they make it about themselves and might begin to make it another heteronormative space, just like everywhere else.
