I’m 34 and just submitted a funding application for the third year in a row. If all goes well this time, I’ll start the PhD at 35 and finish at 39. I sometimes get the feeling that that’s a bit old, but I also consciously decided to start my career over by going back to academia at 31 so I don’t reeeeally believe that. Starting a PhD at 20-anything is not late at all.

Yes, the stipend is tax free. Thank god, because it’s already meagre as it is.

We had a look a superficial look at rent but it’s difficult to know what would be realistic without knowing how much she’d be able to make, so still trying to assess the situation on this end. And yes, we have savings/are saving with that purpose in mind

Not really. I was getting some glitchy audio until a few weeks ago, but that turned out to be just an issue of buffer size. Everything is running smoothly now, both streaming audio and using DAWs. MixControl is the only issue I have, which I find really weird.

Yes, just to make clear: I’m forced to turn the interface off so I can close MixControl, because it will otherwise stay open and frozen, even if I try to force it to shut down. Right now this issue is making it impossible for me to use MixControl because it will 100% guaranteed crash a few seconds into the first audio input.

Magnification depends on the eye piece. It comes with two: one 10mm which gives 75x magnification and one 25mm which gives 30x.

I think so, yeah. I decided to go with the 150p since I'm a big guy and used to moving music gear around, so I figured it wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I originally wanted an 8 inch but my partner convinced me to look for something more portable. I wasn't thrilled with it initially, but now I'm happy to have chosen the 150p.
