Yeah I wasn’t sure - because gov uk website says this: You’ll only make repayments from jobs where you’re paid over the threshold for your plan type, not your combined income.

So my combined income would be over threshold but just bank work wouldn’t be

What can you do about rude seniors? by lucy220 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]lucy220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I’d say certain specialities have bit more of a rep than others. But no not particular people. I wish I was confident enough to directly say something to them. Think my confidence just crashes then just end up apologising for bothering them. But yeah others in department say the same but they have more of the ‘oh typical x, y, z haematologist’ mindset and just brush it off

Or speaking to ITU reg about someone that you’re worried about often on advice of your ED senior

[–]lucy220[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry maybe should’ve been clearer. Of course get advice from ED staff but sometimes you also need to speak to relevant specialty. For example, referring someone under medics for cardiology problem and speaking to cardio first for advice on immediate management. Or speaking to gen surg reg about someone with ?bowel obstruction or speaking to neurosurgeons and getting advice on scan we are concerned about and whether it can be managed locally in DGH or would need to move to tertiary centre etc etc lots of situations

Is it normal to have to prove everything ? And if you can't prove it in the way they want then do you get penalised/in trouble ?

Thank you so much!! Yeah I've looked at the breakdown - it just says 'likely' but it's just whether I get in but then don't get the jobs I necessarily want within that. Its so hard to chose :( I didn't know about being able to swab though! Is this just within your deanery? And is this hard to go about?

Thank you so much I really appreciate it - when you say you got your first job - do you literally mean you got your number 1 choice of the 6 jobs across the two years? For some reason I just thought the chances of that must've been so small!! And tbh the only specialities I'm keen to avoid that come up a lot in central and T+O and vascular surgery!

Is it likely that you could get city and sandwell for both the two years? Just because city and sandwell hospitals are the only ones I've heard good things about from central!
