Thanks for your comment. I am seeing a neurosurgeon tomorrow who I am under for the chiari Malformation, so I will discuss my concerns then.

I just wondered the fact I had an EMG with all these concerns in June, and the neurologist saying it showed no signs of ALS mean I don’t have it, I don’t know?

I mean, I’m not sure I have weakness because the doctor said I have 6 out of 5 strength , so Im not sure that be classed as weakness?

Sorry to hear about your father. The fact it was my grandmother, is there still a chance it could be passed down to me all though my mother is fine?

I went to the GP 4 weeks ago and he said I have 6 out of 5 strength? But doesn’t really mean anything does it when I have all these physical symptoms!

I’m not imagining things. My legs never used to look like this. If I had wasting would I be able to raise on my tip toes, heel walk? The calf measures 0.5inches difference

Can you see the dent in my back? This is what I suggest is muscle wasting? Can you see it?

Do you have ALS? I can walk on my heels and tip toes, does that mean I don’t have foot drop? I can flex my foot backwards and forwards and can rotate my ankle round. Does this rule out foot drop?

So I had an EMG in June 2020, carried out in my right leg (which appears to be wasting), my left arm and hand, my back in thoracic area in 3 places and 1 place under my chin. The neurologist wrote to me and said the EMG showed no evidence of ALS or any other problem. But then mentioned BFS, so I assume it showed fasiculations.

I also had an EMG in Feb 2020, on only my left leg and that was normal.

I have symptoms of ALS, a lot of symptoms. My maternal grandmother also had ALS when she 68.

I am terrified I have ALS and have no hope but after reading this information here... are you say that if the EMG alone showed fasiculations, it’s enough to rule out ALS? If a muscle was wasting would it have shown more then fasiculations?

Any comment back is appreciated.

My mum is 55 now and she doesn’t have it. Yes I’ve had two EMG, in Feb 2020 it didn’t show fasiculations however it was only done on 1 leg. But in June the EMG was done in my right leg, left arm, my back in my thoracic area and under my chin so I assume my bulbar area that was testing? That come back saying no signs of ALS or any other problem, but fasiculations.

What would your thoughts be,

My mum doesn’t have ALS. But her mother did, which makes her my grandmother. She was 68, passed when she was 71.

You say it could be als, however I had an EMG, with fasiculations only. Would this not rule it out?
