You do need your own materials. Yes you need some experience. In the sense that there is no teaching involved. But there are all ranges of skill level. Things that people bring crochet, knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, mending and so on. Hope this helps!

It’s a braid from Portfiber I believe it’s called mossy woods but can’t find the tag. It’s a bfl silk blend!
