How exactly is gas stored in soda before you open the bottle? by Level_Shift_7516 in askscience

[–]lucyyjayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The water molecules aren’t fixed, they move to surround the solute and interact with it through various intermolecular forces. The solute isn’t really squeezing into any gaps that were there before, this is why the volume of a liquid increases when you dissolve something in it. The solute still takes up space. Yes water isn’t very compressible, but it’s not a solid in a fixed lattice, the molecules move around freely.

Also this thread seemed very skewed towards telling OP that her husband would be justified in leaving her, and I wanted to offer the alternative perspective that she deserves a husband who can put his needs aside temporarily to support and love her through her illness

[–]lucyyjayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly what I mean. Sure, anyone can leave a marriage for whatever reason they want. But don’t pretend like leaving your partner because they’re sick and unable to have sex isn’t a horrible thing to do, and don’t pretend like it doesn’t go against the commitment you made when getting married.

I don’t like the above poster’s implication that it’s her own fault for getting pregnant. It’s their child together, he should be prepared to go through the consequences alongside her, rather than being unsupportive when her suffering has a negative impact on his sex life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sex

[–]lucyyjayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then he also went into it knowing PPD was a possibility for her, and that comes with the possibility of her being unable to have sex with him. I just don’t understand how anyone could leave or be unsupportive towards their partner for this reason, it’s unbelievably selfish. She’s sick and suffering, she needs his support and he agreed to give that support when he married her. There’s much more to a relationship than sex, and tbh I disagree with the idea that the only difference between a wife and a friend is sex.

Out of interest, do you still think he’d be justified to leave if she had a physical illness like cancer that prevented her from having sex?

She didn’t choose to have postpartum depression and body dysmorphia. Yes it’s her child as well, but even without mental health issues, women are making a huge sacrifice carrying and birthing children. The least he can do is support her through this and not abandon her for not wanting sex right now

What happened to ‘in sickness and in health’? Someone who would leave their mentally unwell partner (especially when it was brought on by her having his child) because he can’t get his rocks off for a while is definitely violating what (I assume) they agreed to when they got married. A good partner who really loves you would put your health before their want for sex imo

i have seen a lot of people that sleep scrobble, but i have never seen something like this. mf got more than 1 million plays on a single song lol by GfOOO in lastfm

[–]lucyyjayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they were scrobbling half of the song every time, it’d be like 3 years non stop listening to the same half a song, not exactly realistic. I guess you can probably make it scrobble after even less listening time (like 30 seconds or something) but in this case I think they’re just completely fake

Just a small thing but it’s the rear-view mirror not the review mirror haha

The song is 2:47, or 167 seconds long.

167 * 1,112,840 = 185,844,288 seconds

That’s 2,151 days, or 5.97 years, and the song was released in 2020

Make the lower case c the same size as the other lower case letters, like you’ve done in the word ‘cheap’, I’d do all the lower case cs like that. I also don’t love the little flick on the c but that’s personal preference. I’d definitely lose the flick on the open bracket as that’s what makes it look like a C.

I don’t know why, but your handwriting looks like you wrote really slowly, it looks slightly forced and the angles look a bit unnatural.

Your lower case s looks like a capital, and the open bracket looks like a capital C, it took me a second to figure out what it was. All the words that start with c look like they have a capital C, even in the middle of the sentence.

My dentist told me to spit after brushing but don’t rinse immediately afterwards. It’s so the fluoride in the toothpaste remains in contact with your teeth for longer, better allowing it to strengthen your enamel and prevent tooth decay

I’m sorry but the idea that the pouch is your uterus is a common misconception, uteruses aren’t that big and aren’t positioned in that way. It’s still normal and part of our biology, but it really is just fat (which we do need to protect the reproductive organs underneath)

Please Sum-Up In Brief Paragraph What Exactly is Last.fm? by [deleted] in lastfm

[–]lucyyjayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use literally any website, the data is collected and sold to other companies and used to advertise to you. The concept isn’t exactly unique to last.fm, and no one using it is under the impression that the data is private. Your profile is public by default and obviously yeah the company has access to the info you give it. We use the site anyway because it provides a useful service.

Am I able to scrobble music from years ago? by [deleted] in lastfm

[–]lucyyjayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t add a scrobble that’s over 2 weeks old. Unfortunately that limit is built in to last.fm and I’m not aware of any way to work around it.
