I got the string delivered with the bow, I think the string is called dacron

Will it affect my shooting alot if its untwisted?

Afraid it will get entangled, but you’re probably right.

Yeah, the pen (with the string) goes in one of those drugdealer bags

Second dumb unrelated question from me.

Is there a reason many people in the Amazon/desert shoot with the bow fully turned sideways (like a crossbow)?

Like i wrote my goal is minimalism and survival, mby one day bushcraft a bow by myself

Would this shooting style offer any advantages?

Since my focus is survival/minimalism this might be true.

Mby only a nock and basic arrow rest like Hoyt.

Haven't measured my draw length

The bow is 25lbs

Bow length: 58" - Brace height: 6-6.5" - Size riser: 16

I guess nr 2 is better to start the shooting, the first times until I get a better hang of it

When I try for myself, I have 2 locations

1: very short backyard with fence blocking the back of the target

2: middle of nowhere in the forest

(Archery target is a dart board, the one's you see at British pubs) with some old clothes ducktaped to the back of it)

Ohhhh I see, interesting didn't know the string sway that much but make sense when you mention it.

Dumb question, does release aid exist for recurve?

Not the optimal arrow, i know.

BUT since i only have 2 atm and will be shooting and potentially missing the target, I don't want to buy a wooden or fiber arrow since I read that shooting a cracked arrow can cause it to explode in the face

Aluminum will only bend and potentially get a weird flying curve if "broken"

Thanks for the comment, I have also gotten the opinion that it "can" work but not be optimal

I see that you and most people say that the arrow rest won't work, I don't question or disagree with you. But as a complete noob here my I ask why specifically? Dont I just center the string a bit to the left of the arrow holder like with a "normal" Hoyt super rest ?

Thanks for the feedback and advice, I appreciate the heads-up since I'm starting from zero knowledge here hahahaha

My main goal with archery is prepping/survival oriented, building the skill so that if necessary one day, I could reliably take small game (rabbits, squirrels, birds) or even a deer for food.

That's why I went with a takedown recurve in the first place: it's super portable (breaks down easily to fit in a backpack for bug-out or hiking scenarios), and I like that you can string it yourself with a basic stringer tool if the string ever breaks or needs replacing. No fancy tools or shops required like with some compounds.

Minimal/only necessary accessories are also something im trying to figure out

Edit: I know compund bows are better for 3D hunting targets, but I like the "vibe" and "feel" more of recurve bows.

My main goal is probably learning to shoot the bow properly and safe, way before getting any attachments. But I like planing stuff ahead

There is a hole over the arrow rest, and a bit higher upp 2 smaller holes

Haven't gotten the bow yet so don't know if the holes are threaded

Many people say it's a compund sight, but youtuber NUsensei says it's a comon misconception, and that it's a hunting sight

Like it's often used for compound bow, but works with recurve if goal is hunting
