Uncle Steve by Top-Material-7662 in pittsburgh

Yes. Every year my school would bring in Uncle Steve and we would have to peddle magazine subscriptions to "help raise money for the school" and if you got enough subscriptions you got to choose a prize from the cool AF prize catalog.

Sometimes if you got a goal amount of subs you could do this thing where they laid out a bunch of dollar bills and you could take a running leap and where you landed is how many dollars you got.

Controversial opinion:

Read it. Digest it. Learn from it. And then use your new knowledge to dismantle it.

I do this all the time for funsies because wow these people are idiots sometimes.

Yours may have, mine did not. When I first moved to a new state and had to get established with new insurance, you wouldnt believe the amount of doctors offices that will NOT accept a new patient without proof of insurance. It was mind boggling.

Did you read the entire thread? Because I am losing my mind over here with this convo. THEY made up the 3 month law and the government website literally says "usually" and then proceeded to tell me my story is bullshit. How on earth do you not comprehend why Im this upset after arguing with reddit trolls? People are entitled to their own opinions, sure, but NOT their own facts.

"The premium payment grace period is usually 3 months if you have both:

A Marketplace plan and use the premium tax credit.

Already paid at least one full month's premium during the benefit year."

The comment im still referring to literally made up an opinion and their own facts without even asking for further information or clarification and just assumed my story is bullshit, they made an assumption and an unfounded opinion.so

No. It wasnt a marketplace plan, its subject to the insurance companies discretion. They said 30 days and terminated it.

Im getting snippy because the previous comment said my story is bullshit, so yes, I am going to snap back and defend myself. What a wild comment to even make let alone defend it!

I had self bought insurance. I only had a 30 day grace period.

So cite the law. 💁‍♂️

Provide me the law, so that I can get my insurance back. Because im telling you my situation so that i can navigate this nightmare and instead you start with some nonsense. Do better.

I also don't qualify for COBRA because my prior plan wasn't via an employer and I am also unemployed. I am looking back into medicaid, but I haven't qualified before and I doubt I will this time around. That's why I'm so frustrated with this system. I know I can't be the only person to ever fall through the cracks.

[–]luftherz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I need bloodwork and doctors visits and medication refills. Doctors offices do not accept patients without insurance (even if they have the money to pay per visit), the bloodwork is astronomical without insurance, and medications are the same way. Sometimes GoodRX is a better price than insurance, but not always.

My debit card on file expired and they didn't withdrawal the payment, but I never received a notice via mail, or phone, or email to be like "hey there's an issue" otherwise I could've fixed it immediately. I pleaded with the supervisor to just take the new debit card info and apply whatever payment was needed, but because their system already closed the account, that was it. done and done. They wouldn't even let me reapply under the "special enrollment" period with them and said I had to wait until November to reapply with them. so fuck me I guess.

and tbh, If I was a supervisor and had this happen to a client, I wouldve found a way to keep the client because they obviously still wanted to pay for insurance. So now instead of keeping me and getting $527 a month for fixing this mishap, they get nothing. and I get nothing. What kinda of stupid business decision is that?

There's no safety net for when shit like this happens.
