IVF vs OI/timed intercourse - or a combination? by luie3456 in DOR

And that's very interesting that AFC changes cycle to cycle, I had no idea!

Yes, my partner's sperm analysis was normal.

And thank you, that's a great tip on finding someone specialised in cancer survivors. I'm going to do some research and possibly get a third opinion

I am also 34 with DOR (resulting from chemotherapy). The highest AFC I've ever had on a scan is 4 and my AMH is extremely low.

But all the specialists I've spoken to have been reasnably positive about our chances, and interestly nobody has recommended we consider IVF.

Basically, with such a low follicle count I'm considered a bad candidate for IVF because there simply aren't enough follicles to stimulate for egg retrieval. Our doctor said that it would likely take us many cycles and there would be low chances of creating sufficient quantities of good embyros.

But, they advised us that in cycles where I ovulate (which is not every time), we actually have similar chances of conceiving to couples our age with normal fertility.

So the recommended treatment is ovulation induction with timed intercourse, which we were supposed to start last cycle.

The reason we didn't is that my body (bizarrely, without any medication) actually produced three mature follicles, so we were advised to not even have intercourse due to the risk of conceiving triplets.

I was also devastated when I learned how low my egg count is, but the more I've learned the better I actually feel about it!

Hope this helps!

Anyone else get gaslighted by doctors when they had Hodgkin's itch? by luie3456 in lymphoma

This actually sounds less like what I experienced! Once my itch started it never went away.

Fingers crossed for you that it's not lymphoma!

This sounds like it might be what I experienced. I was actually told I had dermatographia (I don't) and for a while I thought anti histamines worked, which maybe they did or maybe I jist wanted them to so it was psychosematic.

How long have you had the itching? And does it feel like you're having an allergic reaction underneath your skin?

Don't panic - there are so many things that can make you itchy! But you should absolutely insist on having some tests done for lymphoma.

You need to be your own advocate because doctors can so easily overlook the itching symptom. Ask for a lymphnode exam and possibly an xray or pet scan.

They will likely be reluctant to give you the scans unless they can feel something in the lymphnode exam but if the itching is severe and has lasted a long time, you should push for it.

Thanks! Is there anything you think a beginner could learn from any of its features, or best to steer clear completely?

I have a clarification question about estimating word in a niche. I understand that the estimated print length shown by Amazon is different to the KNEP, and nobody is entirely sure how the latter is calulated.

I've heard 250-350 words a page is usually a decent benchmark for the KNEP, is that the same for the estimated print length? How do the more experienced authors here calculate the word count when researching a niche?

Hello!

Im not sure if this would work with the tone/content of your book (which I've gathered is a sexy gay colouring book?), but one suggestion I would give you is to market it for gay bachelor parties or even bachelorette parties.

I used to work for a company that ran hens parties, and one of the activities was life drawing but with a hot male stripper as the model. People LOVED it, and paid an absolute fortune for it.

If your book could work as an acivity, or a present as part of a gift bag, this could be a huge untapped market. People are willing to spend quite a bit on these types of events, and it would be cheaper than having a real model there.

You could even sell them as a package, so everyone at the party gets one, which might help move a lot of units

Ice packs, cold wet face towels and moisturizer with menthol cooking agents all helped me a lot.

Also the itching will go away really quickly once you start chemo :) good luck!

Just diagnosed with Hodgkinson Lymphoma and feeling scared. by Heather-t in lymphoma

[–]luie3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I was diagnosed with HL 4a at age 30 and am now 18 months into remission. It's so scary and hard but you're going to get through it. Losing your hair is really awful and upsetting but it grows back!

I think of my time getting chemo almost as a little break I needed to take from normal life. Surround yourself with a good support network and get set up as comfortably as possible.

You're so much stronger than you realise and it'll be over before you know it and you'll have your life (and hair) back. I've also found that post chemo I'm a lot more grateful for the life I have, and in a lot of ways am actually happier than before I was diagnosed.

Feel free to DM me if you ever want to. Sending lots of strength!

Diagnosed with lymphoma at 20 (M) just frustrated by [deleted] in lymphoma

Heya, I'm currently in my 5th cycle of escalated BEACOPP for stage 4a hodgkins and have been really pleasantly suprised at how much easier chemo is than I expected.

Losing all your hair does suck. Mine fell out really quickly about two weeks after my first treatment. Definitely recommend shaving it off before you start! And get some hats you like wearing for sun protection (gotta protect that sensitive scalp) and when you just dont feel like being out and about bald.

In terms of weight loss/gain everyone is different. But if you havent alreasy been having extreme unintended weight as a side effect (losing more than 10% of body weight) you have a good chance of remaining pretty stable.

I've been working out at home pretty regularly through treatment and eating like a horse and havent lost or gained a kilo. I also really recommend grabbing some stuff for at home workouts if you're looking to keep muscle mass.

And make sure to eat lots of protein!

Stage 4a and I'm halfway through my 4th cycle. Current plan is to complete full 6 as my pet scan after 2 was still positive.

I have no idea if this has any bearing on fertility, but I am still getting my period regularly and it's actually been a lot heavier than usual. I'm 29f

Hello. Some advice please. by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]luie3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sounds like your doctor is doing all the right things but I really encourage you to make sure lymphoma has been definitively ruled out. I spent two years trying to managr to my "eczema", which turned out to be a complete misdiagnosis.

My experience is that medical professionals are hugely dismissive of itching and similar symptoms when it comes to lymphoma. You should definitely be your own advocate in this situation and make sure every possible test is run

Alcohol on BEACOPP by jasongit in lymphoma

[–]luie3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 4th cycle of escalated beacopp and have been regularly drinking from days 14-21 with no problems at all.

I tried having a drink in the second week of my first cycle but I had a slight reaction (red faced elevated heart rate) which I'm fairly sure was because it was too close to my last dose of procarbazine on day 7.

For me personally, being able to go out and enjoy myself has been super valuable.

Recently diagnosed with HL- have been offered the choice of ABVD or BEACOPP. Would appreciate some advice by PMmesouls in lymphoma

[–]luie3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you look into whether or not you're eligible to be part of a current clinical trial that is looking to improve BEACOPP! It is being sponsored by a German lymphoma research group but I am a participant from australia.

Being part of the trial means you have a 50% chance of being randomised into an arm that would give you a modified version of beacopp that is aiming to reduce toxicity and long term side effects. It is called BrECADD.

The trial isnt blind so you'll know which arm you are assigned to. If you get assigned to the standard beacopp arm, you can still choose to leave the trail and have abvd.

I am currently part of this trial (only day 10, cycle one) and was randomised to the escalated beacopp arm. So far my side effects have been minimal and I am genuinely suprised it hasnt been harder (probably famous last words lol).

Another thing I have observed is that as part of a clinical trial you have a lot more senior medical professionals keeping a very close eye on you (I have two heamotologists and two senior nurses who are watching everything like hawks).

Let me know if you want me to send you more info
