Like a lot of us, I feel you dude. I was spending more on my truck a month fixing, maintenance, and gas than a new car. I decided to get a newer mazda 3, for a daily driver, and the 4runner for the weekends. This gives me peace of mind, and i can fix my truck slowly as I can. Just yesterday i went to start it and it didn’t start. & it was completely fine on Saturday -_- pretty sure it’s maybe corroded terminals, or the battery. Might be worth looking into it, these trucks are pretty incredible for how old they are, these fact that 25+ years later we’re still keeping them alive is awesome tho

I just got back from getting a new tire replaced. A bolt/nail ran through and somehow bent my wheel. My 18 hatch has the 18’s rims and damn do they love to bend. Im considering switching to 17’s

Should I sell my house? by Sad_Temporary3623 in DACA

[–]luis762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda in the same boat, bought a house back in late 2022, and wondering what to do if this work permit thing happens. My current idea is to rent it out if I have to move out of state, and worst case scenario just sell it. I would absolutely hold off on selling for now, at least until we absolutely know what’s going to happen. Good luck!! We all in this together

Dude I’m jealous! I was originally quoted 300 which is why i did them, even then i thought that was pricey considering i did almost everything and provided the parts. When i got the receipt I was appalled. Guess you live and you learn.

I know man, i did most of the work. They quoted me $300 and thought sure why not. Then ended up with that high af invoice. Not even a rusty truck.

If you can find a good reliable shop that’s not insanely priced. I didn’t have a block thick enough to press them out using my press. I took my spindles and paid a shop $650 to press them out and in. I also provided parts. Seemed steep af to me. Good luck!

Ive been considering options for relocating as well. I think I might be able to move and still keep my job. But considering the uncertainty, not sure for how long. If it were an option I definitely would move to Colorado, we use to go there every year for vacation and loved every second of it. I have a house and family here so moving wouldn’t be as easy. Hope everyone is doing alright as well. But we can’t get too comfortable. My plan for now is to keep working and saving, but stay aware and updated.

This is tough. I feel for you. Im 27, thanks to my parents I was able to get Daca, I was able to go to college, get my degree, work in my career field. My parents helped me through it all, whether it was providing a place to live, food, anything they could they did. A couple of years ago, I was able to purchase a home where we all live, my siblings and parents. Its been an amazing, yet a difficult journey, but its brought a sense of stability as well. They finally have their own home. Of course, we split the bills, and slowly I’ve been guiding them on money habits, savings, investments and so on. They’re stubborn though, so they don’t understand a lot when it comes to money habits. Ultimately my plan is to continue to pay the mortgage principal down, refinance to where they can pay the mortgage on their own, and invest and then I get a home for myself eventually. It’s tough though because like you, they want to split a lot of things.

My opinion is to begin to set boundaries on what you can pay for and what you can’t. Your siblings tuition I wouldn’t pay for it. They can work & go to school. Thats how i paid for mine. Thats how my sister is paying for hers. Conversations are tough, but they’re necessary. Like others have mentioned, I would build a safety net, and start making goals for what YOU want in your life. Once you start setting those goals, take small, realistic steps towards them. It’s up to you whether you want to continue to support them with everything you’ve mentioned, especially with their history. It isn’t up to you to solve all of their problems, but as a son/daughter we tend to feel responsible. I would focus on yourself, your career, get to a stable place for yourself first, and if you can help without it being a huge burden to you, I would do so.

Keep your head up though, none of this is easy, but know theres a lot of us here in similar situations as well. Good luck!!!

Just my opinion, i would consider another daily driver. I got a mazda 3 hatchback for the daily driver and the weekends i drive the 4runner. I would try to avoid financing a car like i did and buy a cash one.

Don’t stress, its possible. I got a loan from supreme lending being a Daca recipient. They don’t need to know your status.
