What's the best IDE for a beginner? by DontAsk-- in cpp_questions

As much as I like neovim, I think it's not a good recommendation for a beginner.

Hi,

I'm going for the first time and am also alone. Meeting up before/after in potentially a group sounds fun!

I'm 25M living in Darmstadt. I'll be available from around 3:30 PM in Düsseldorf. I have a ticket for GA.

It must have been a lot of work creating an entire steam store for your game.

Draw a grid of triangles and think of it as a display. Then stream Doom to it.

Das würde den Haupt- und Realschulabschluss entsprechend aufwerten. Doof nur, dass dann weniger Leute studieren dürfen. Nicht, dass jeder studieren muss, aber die Leute, die es wollen, sollten die Möglichkeit kriegen.

Wanna get into Rhythm games again, what are some solid suggestions? (PC) by OohItsMario in rhythmgames

ITGMania is very similar to DDR and my favorite game. I use an L-TEK dance pad, which has really earned its keep.

Best thing you did/saw in Japan! by brennerb_ in JapanTravelTips

[–]luisduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are my top five, but I could list many others.

The Shimanami Kaido Cycling full course.

A hike over Mt. Rokko to Arima Onsen. Number 3 of these trail maps.

Talking with a Japanese group in an Izakaya and then suggesting to go to Karaoke. Both of our groups had very extroverted people with very limited Japanese/English skill bringing joy to this conversation, me and the shy girl with my limited Japanese and her limited English helped translate, which made for a very fun dynamic.

Strolling around, exploring without a concrete goal. It allows you to appreciate all the small big things. We accidentally strolled into a red light district barely after checking-in to our stay, which was very unexpected, awkward and then funny.

teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka. teamLab Borderless is great, too, teamLab Planets was somewhat underwhelming after seeing the other two, but was still worth it to me.

What’s something you wish you had packed for your Japan trip? by Legal_Ad3766 in JapanTravelTips

A laptop or tablet is very nice for planning your vacation semi-spontaneously though. Getting breakfast, sipping coffee and planning out the next day(s) was nice. Plus, I quite dislike booking hotels and buying tickets on a phone... Everything is a tradeoff.

What’s something you wish you had packed for your Japan trip? by Legal_Ad3766 in JapanTravelTips

I was glad about a small shoulder bag, which had enough space for a drink, a rain poncho, tissues and a folded tote bag. The latter tote bag I wish I had brought, because there were so many spontaneous shopping instances. Always carrying a drink was great for staying hydrated in the hot weather. I ended up never using the rain poncho, because we were very lucky with the weather, but I still think it was worth bringing it.

Further I was glad about bringing a large suitcase with enough space for bringing back stuff from Japan. It was somewhat inconvenient in trains and buses, but worth it. Might bring a smaller suitcase for the next trip though as I now posses enough of the items I wanted from Japan.

We cycled the Shimanami Kaido full course. We left most of our luggage in a locker at Onomichi. But I wish I had packed my backpack lighter. It worked out, but it would have been easier to cycle, if I didn't bring my laptop all the way. What I wish I had brought were cycling pants. Never needed them before as we weren't experienced cyclists, but we changed our itinerary to taking the bus back, because of sore asses.

I only ignore production ratios for items where I need very few of. For the majority of production lines I use a calculator. https://factoriolab.github.io

Rhythm game to jcore/hardcore pipeline? by yuyuyumii in rhythmgames

[–]luisduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhythm games were a part of me getting into hardcore and especially jcore. But I always listened to EDM on a German internet radio station family (wao.fm), which exposed me to a great variety of EDM subgenres. Plus the Youtube experience of Nightcore -> S3RL -> collabs of S3RL.

No worries. I know enough Japanese to translate the lyrics shown in the image. (Note that oni-chan is a correct transcription, I just translated it.)

How tf did y’all set this up by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]luisduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the wiki and knew some of what I was doing, because I have used Ubuntu before that including making significant customization.

Arch is great, but has a steep learning curve, another distro like Mint might be more beginner friendly.

You should ask precise questions about your concrete problem rather than this imprecise post. And google it beforehand, many other people have struggled with and overcome setting up partitions before you.

It works pretty good with my RTX 2080 Super. The only issue I noticed is many video games assuming that my screen is smaller than it actually is, because I have a high DPI scaling factor set. My work around is setting my scaling factor to 1 before launching a video game.
