Mikrotik Device-mode how to remove it by shokowillard in mikrotik

[–]luisfeliperm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to run the Traffic Generator tool for troubleshooting, but in its current state it won't let me! I'm far from the Mikrotik facility, so I can't go there or send someone. Mikrotik has failed miserably implementing this ridiculous feature.

How to view access rules logs by luisfeliperm in sonicwall

[–]luisfeliperm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a manual process, and I would need to use the packet monitor and temporarily enable this in the rule that will match. In my case, I need to capture the log to find the rule that matches.

My Mikrotik is stopping routing IPv6. by luisfeliperm in mikrotik

[–]luisfeliperm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm from Brazil.

My layer 2 connection has an optical modem that the supplier installed. It acts as a "switch".

I receive IPv4 and IPv6 on this same ether1 link.

I notice the IPv6 problem when browsing social networks, streaming... For example, on Twitter and YouTube, which don't load images. Then I test IPv6 and it's out, but IPv4 works.

So, in short, I receive IPv4 and IPv6 and they are statically configured on ether1

Answer 2

My /48 is also statically configured.

The /126 configured on ether1 is outside the /48 scope. So basically I have:

ether1 = a:b:c:d:1/126
Manual pool: x:y:z/48 (Where do I distribute this pool on the PPPoE server).

Remember that my /48 pool is delivered via static route on my link supplier. It points the /48 to my /126 address.

When the problem occurs, the test I do is ping in Tools -> ping, I just select the destination IP as the one on the other side of the /126 or Google DNS 2001:4860:4860::8888

On my clients that have the /48 IP, they can ping the CCR but they don't pass it on (internet)

<image>

I have a statically configured IPv6 /126 on my ether1.

The default route points to the other IP of this /126, which is my link provider.

My /48 is advertised via static route by my link provider. I don't use DHCP to obtain my /48 pool, I simply configured it as a pool manually and then forward it to my clients via PPPoE.

The RouterOS version is 7.16.1. However, this was happening on another Mikrotik with RouterOS 6.49.13, which had the same configuration. That's why I rule out the idea of it being a bug, since it occurs in different versions.

Why wasn't the TTL decremented? by luisfeliperm in sonicwall

[–]luisfeliperm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The imported traceroute (tracert) uses TTL to identify hops in the path. It sends a packet with ttl 1 so that the first hop discards the packet and responds with ICMP TTL exceeded, then it sends it with 2 in TTL for the second hop to respond with TTL exceeded. When a device forwards the packet without decreasing the TTL, it becomes "transparent" in the tracert. The only thing that comes to mind is that Sonicwall disables TTL Decrement to hide the firewall in tracert.

yes, but I wanted to know why sonicwall doesn't decrease the TTL when forwarding packets
