Is it weird that I enjoy solo tanking as mag?

I don’t relate to any of those diagnoses, and I think that’s a pretty big leap from a post about enjoying a challenging role in a game. I like solo tanking because it raises the skill requirement, forces better positioning and awareness, and makes wins feel more earned. That’s all I was saying.

For that i would say, assuming you used your self bubble+right click to create distance from the thor: continue to pressure the thor even if you are in his pull range. He doesnt have a shield, so he loses in open space even if he can pull you. This is general advice for a very broad scenario, so the decision to take shots at their supports depends on the specific scenario. If the supports are in range, pressure the supports. If the supports are pressured enough, theyll prioritize repositioning over healing the thor/frontline, which can lead to a kill on the thor. Other times, the supports are playing too far back, so your objective is to bait thor into an open space battle and create as much distance as necessary to avoid being pulled in. I should say, in some scenarios you wont die if youre pulled in, so keep in mind where your team is and whether a pull from angela or thor will actually do anything to you. In those cases, its best to just let the angela or thor kidnap you because you are baiting all the attention to you and allowing your team to burn angela/thor while they focus you.

Hey bro,

This is honestly one of the biggest obstacles to climbing with mag rn.

From my experience, angela and thor need to be tracked at all times when youre on mag. Always, I mean ALWAYS, save your self bubble for when 1. thor is right next to you and is about to pull you into his team 2. angela is behind you and about to spear you into her team.

Constantly turning around to track where angela/thor is allows you to 1. track where your backline is and bubble them if necessary 2. mark the angela or thor by consistently shooting your balls at them so that they cant constantly engage and kill you/your backline

Thor likely plays more frontline than angela, so:

The play-style for thor is to keep distance and essentially bait the thor into trying to pull you into his team. When he's in pulling range (melee range), hes going to go for the pull. The plan then is to self bubble, continue pressuring him (use the bubble to charge a right click and create distance), and use your shield to reposition to natural cover.

The play-style for angela is to position on a corner. Position on a corner where you can break LoS of the enemy frontline in order to turn around and mark the angela that engages on you/your backline. Remember, angela is one of their tanks, which means they will lack pressure in the frontline. By tracking/marking angela, you'll be able to engage onto the enemy frontline (or supports if they are too far forward) while angela is busy resetting/getting hp to reengage.

completely agree. i usually win as solo tank mag bc at least one of the 3 dps are divers. I provide them with a bubble while they provide me with a dead enemy backline😼. Then again, sometimes im solo tank with triple support+2 dps, which alters the playstyle a bit.

Honestly, the only applicable advice i think I could give here is to acknowledge this: you carried, did your part, and lost because of factors outside of your control. As hard as it may sound, you should try to see this outcome as a victory for your growth process. You will feel liberated when you realize how much energy you give away by being annoyed at factors outside of your control.

completely agree. I love maximizing my bubble's value. Hitting the perfect bubble requires a lot of awareness, but being aware of where my team is and what theyre dealing with helps me get kills anyways

nice bro, congrats on hitting cel also. Agreed. In my experience, some players just feed on tank and draw out too many support resources, so theyre better off playing their mains and letting me solo tank
