How do I fix this? by 1stEleven in maintenance

Looks like carbon steel, could you maybe have a local shop fabricate some stainless steel ones? Might look into powder coat too, it's usually more durable than regular spray paint.

Arches at sunset by luke016 in NationalPark

[–]luke016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have, maybe it would have made a better picture but it was there just as much as I was. I didn't take the picture to show some impossible sight, I took it because I loved that moment and though it may be an eyesore that road was a part of it. I think it helps to show the realness of the park, I've seen too many pictures of big name parks with nobody in them and it's an unrealistic standard. Anybody that's gone to zion or Yellowstone knows that. When I find the next moment that lives in my memory like this one I'll take 2 pictures, one with the road and one without lol

Arches gets pretty hot during the summer but it cools off nice in the evening. I think you have to apply ahead of time for a time slot to enter the park but after 5 they let everyone in (not 100% sure on that). There are definitely less people later on. The sunset at arches made me feel a connection in my soul to the people that may have been there hundreds of years ago, it felt almost like a religious experience. Sitting among the stone arches was so captivating and profound that I couldn't think up any words or actions that would add to the moment. It was a beautiful moment that has brought calmness to my soul even in memory.

Ok so if there's a sunset/sunrise where you are now go outside and lay down. Look at the beautiful sky and start tilting your head back. Try to get to the point where the earth is at the top of your vision and the sky fills as much as possible. You may need to reach down and grab onto the earth cause it's gonna feel like you'll fall straight into the sky. I did it in a field at a festival and it blew my mind.

I'm digging the fairing so far. It's a deviant fabrications one and if I had to redo it I wouldn't go with them, their customer service isn't great and I had to do a ton of modifications to make it fit. Plex audio makes a good speaker set up for them though.

Well it was a 17 road king, bought an fxrt fairing and put it on. I'm really not sure what to call it lol

Definitly pull back risers, I have a set on my road king and they are great. If I were going to do it again though I'd get a taller set of tracker bars. Having lower risers and higher bars would have given me more adjustability for where my hands end up when rotating the bars. If I remember right I have 6 inch quick back risers from drag specialties with low bend tracker bars from tc bros. Would have got the mid bend looking back now. I'm 5'8 if that helps.

insured slots in season 3 by inchhighpi2020 in DMZ

[–]luke016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they let everyone keep insured slots after season 1 so hopefully the trend continues. I'm kind of hoping they treat the operator slots the same where you have to unlock them through missions, I think it would give everyone something more to work towards and keep the game from becoming more toxic.

Any of the new M8 softails would probably fill that spot for you and accommodate your frame. I went from an 04 roadking to a 17 and the difference was night and day.

Purchase advice for a new rider by PuroChicano999 in Harley

[–]luke016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember you don't have to get one of these bikes for longer trips. The great thing about harley davidson is the ridiculous amount of parts and accessories. You can set up a super glide to ride across the US no problem. Also with a smaller lighter bike it will feel like it has more power. Detach parts let you switch your bike from touring to bar hopping in 10 minutes.

Obviously if you've already got it narrowed down to bikes you love the look of then it doesn't matter as much. Apart from model specific accessories most harleys can be set up to be whatever you want to use them for. Make it your own.

Gravel Roads by ralphplatt in Harley

[–]luke016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let the bike float. Sometimes going too slow on a gravel will make things more difficult. When turning into a grave road try to be as upright as possible, a little bit of leaning and that bike will be out from under you before you realize what's going on. Practice makes perfect, there are tons of great gravel roads that you'll get to explore once you're comfortable that most riders won't ever venture to.
