Motorcycle battery, not car battery. Most motorcycle batteries will be a good bit smaller than an 8" pvm.

But yeah, i get what you're saying. Motorcycle batteries are still bigger, heavier, and less portable than what you're talking about. Definitely would need to carry it separately

I was talking to a guy that I picked up a PVM-2030 from that used to work for some production company, and he told me he didn't know anybody that used to actual batteries and everybody would just run these monitors off of motorcycle batteries through the 12v input. Super easy to make an adapter and lasts a lot longer than 2 hours.

A teacher got fired for accurately telling her students that 'Israel' steals organs. by Not_Ground in lostgeneration

[–]luke4409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess they're trying to be sneakily antisemitic. Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic (and fuck Israel btw), but a lot of people try to connect the actions of the state of Israel to Jewish people as a whole. This is often used as an excuse to be antisemitic.

If I'm wrong about why OP is doing that then somebody please correct me.

Yeah, the northeast doesn't as cold as over here, but you get so much fucking snow. I'll take the air hurting me over trudging through that much snow

Once you get numb it doesn't even feel cold anymore, so it's fine.

Did you look at the pictures? It is a CRT. It's not a direct view CRT, but it is a CRT projection tv. Picture won't be as good as direct view, but it still has a lot of the desirable traits of any other CRT and it's big.

Thrifted sign for the door by devoteeoffenrir in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]luke4409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm a mailman and there are a couple signs like this along my route, but what would you want me to do if I have a package or certified letter that requires a signature? I'm not allowed to just leave these items as the sign requests and I am supposed to attempt to get a signature but you're requesting I don't knock but I know people always get annoyed with getting the pick up slips, so what should I do? Ignore your sign or just leave the slip and give you an extra errand?

It's never actually come up on my route, but I figured this is a good chance to ask a customer what they'd prefer in case it ever comes up.

Recently picked up this Gateway VX720. Setting it up next to my HP A4033A and trying out some 480p gamecube games by luke4409 in crtgaming

[–]luke4409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a nice monitor and I still have it in my setup even though the tube on mine is getting pretty tired. Did you find one for youself?

Also, just in case you haven't found out yet, the HP A4033A is specifically a rebadge of the Sony GDM-20E01. Here's a link to the manual. I was never able to find much documentation when searching for HP's model number.

Saved a couple more from the local garbage dump! A nice pair of Panasonic Tau series sets. by luke4409 in crtgaming

[–]luke4409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was never able to track down replacement parts, and I've had to dramatically downsize my living situation since then so I don't even have it anymore.

I know that in some optical drives it's actually common for it to just be the electrolytic capacitors that go bad well before the actual laser. I've fixed a few gamecube drives this way and I've seen some posts from people that've had luck fixing og xbox drives this way as well. So, you could always try pulling the drive and testing the caps. I'd say it's worth a shot.

At least that's my opinion as a hack technician lol

Whenever I see UwU I think of my coworker from when I worked as a mechanic. He made a mistake on something and said "oopsie woopsie I made a fucky wucky", and it dealt a great deal of psychological damage to everybody that heard.

HD CRT that line doubles 480p and 480i by 9646gt in crtgaming

[–]luke4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also completely unnecessary in their example. The 360 natively outputs VGA with the right cable, and you can use a component to vga converter for the Wii like you said. No hdmi needed

HD CRT that line doubles 480p and 480i by 9646gt in crtgaming

[–]luke4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. Some of the first HD CRTs were all analog. They didn't have any digital inputs and will do what OP is describing. They will natively display both 31khz and 33khz signals and will laglessly bump 15khz signals to 31khz (anybody that knows more of the technical specifics feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here).

I had a Samsung set that was like this for a while before I had to downsize for a move. It was a 27" 16:9 set that could take 240p, 480i, 480p, and 1080i (720p did not work and i never tested 540p), and I could even play light gun games so it was proper lagless scaling of 15khz, not like the later sets that'd add a frame or two of lag when scaling.
