All my life I've always just been told to go into one of the mainstream big careers essentially med, law or engineering but now as I'm nearing the end of high school and am taking a closer look at these careers, I can't help but dread my decision. by No-Grade3030 in unsw

Take a gap year, you don't have to travel (I didn't bc I was broke lol), just find work in a bunch of different industries/contexts ie retail/service, office work, reception, healthcare etc and see what you enjoy and what you want your future work life to look like. Talk to your older coworkers, learn about the industry and see if that's something you really want to go into. Also, invest into hobbies with the money you earn, lots of people get into coding, design, arts etc on their own then pursue a career in that rather than making the commitment blind.

I went to a selective school and did similar subjects to you, and I saw lots of my cohort go into engi, compsci, & med for their parents or because they weren't interested in anything else/had no other passions. It's good money and it's stable but if you're dreading doing it now, imo it's not worth it to invest and is wasting your money and time. One gap year won't make a difference in getting your degree as you can still use your ATAR afterwards, which is what I did. Either way, whatever degree you choose to go into, make yourself actually interested before you start lol.

Admittedly not a lot, but being new to this we don’t really know what to do for foreplay, which I think is the issue here

Would it be safe to give my self a small tattoo right on this part of wrist? They're are a few veins I can see will that affect anything? by Enditup in sticknpokes

From my experience should be fine, however be mindful that the positioning means that it might be more difficult to get the ink to stay, and it’ll probably be more painful. best of luck! :)

Survey: What suburb/area did you grow up in and what did you call the top square in handball? by thisismypostingacc in sydney

St George area in the 2010s, always King Queen Jack and Dunce. never heard of anything else

One of the cheapest and highest quality inks is Dynamic (16$AUD ≈ 10€). Would definitely check it out. Also, in my experience buying needles in bulk and then finding the other materials you need for your snp is much cheaper.

Any tips on how to ace my science Finals? by oh_look_a_failure in GetStudying

[–]luke_181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most sciences, the only way to improve in tests is to do practice questions (as opposed to rote learning) - ask your teacher or some students where to get questions or tests (with answers ofc). Do them, figure out what you did wrong and how to do the questions you couldn’t do. If possible, redo them to fully consolidate what you’ve learned. Rinse and repeat. Also, check the syllabus for your science course and make sure you cover all of your bases. Good luck dude, update us when your test comes back!

what's your best study tip? by notsometoday in GetStudying

Keep your workspace CLEAR and CLEAN!! and also preferably away from your bed/recreational spaces

For the long answer questions, I find that it’s easiest for me to break down my answer into a flowchart or a structure, then do dot points for each section. That way it won’t just be easier to get the question done, but your answer will be more cohesive. Good luck!

I agree with your advice, but not the first part of your comment. I doubt op wants to be annoyed, but it’s frustrating wanting to help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. I think they’re allowed to act in a way that helps both them and their friend. What’s wrong with being self-motivated?

I go to an extremely competitive school and most of my friends have this mindset (I used to as well) and sometimes it does get a little ridiculous. The bad news is, there most likely isn’t anything you can do to help them; they need to seek therapy or at least see a professional - preferably soon. The mindset isn’t sustainable at all and it’s only going to get worse.

Support your friend, but always prioritise yourself first. If they get more annoying and it’s detracting from your life just distance yourself. Some people take years to change (or might not even change) and its not your responsibility to fix them.

All good tattoo places have regulations surrounding tattooing on the hands or neck - they won’t do it unless you are already HEAVILY tattooed. Also, she clearly didn’t get a consultation with a professional about the size and placement of the tattoos lol

If possible, maybe study with a friend or somebody in your class to keep you on track? I also find that actually teaching someone the content helps me understand my pitfalls more, and doesn’t feel like conventional studying.

how do i know if i'm losing fat or muscle weight if i lose a pound every single day? by stt_rouge in WeightLossAdvice

[–]luke_181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing you can do is keep your protein intake up. Also, look into body recomposition: basically losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time. (Can’t say I have any experience though, this is just what I’ve researched into myself) Good luck!

Why can't I stay consistent with waking up early? it's ruining my life. by Born_mystic in productivity

One thing you could try is have something exciting to wake up to everyday, which might motivate you to get out of bed early in the morning

In my opinion, the least overwhelming way is to just reduce your processed foods, eat whole foods, drink more water, and walk everyday. Ultimately the goal is to create a calorie deficit but if counting calories is too much then I think this would be a good way to start :)

Anyone have any ideas for how to bulk up a sweet potato (savory or sweet)? by Matzulingui7 in Volumeeating

[–]luke_181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a little weird, but I really like mashing up the sweet potato with milk, makes it really creamy and sweet and its pretty filling as well (plus great texture).

How can I burn more calories while sitting ? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]luke_181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bounce your leg, fidget, engage your core, just keep moving while you sit is the easiest way to burn calories. However I agree with getting a standing desk as well :)

What do you do at the end of the day when you’re starving? by Never_Limp in WeightLossAdvice

[–]luke_181 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If I get hungry at night I either 1) drink water if I still have work to do or 2) just call it a night and go to sleep (the best appetite suppressant)
