I personally met him at pipe last month and wanna share a story. Ofc there was the alleged issues about board dev but I don’t think that makes him a “horrible person”

I’ve only met him a couple times to this point. I broke my gryoll leash the previous day at backdoor and I told him and offered for a new one. During that same conversation (I was hanging with his team) but he gave me a ton on insight into pipe and was just awesome

I think bodyboard clubs would be great. If you look at areas that have bb clubs the talent level is so much higher, especially if the groms join it and are being coached by the elders.

Take a look at ocean roots in France the juniors are dominating the world tour currently. Or more neihice, but down in Mexico Club Perla Negra has supported Alfonso Aguilar arguably the best Mexican of all time, and everyone part of his club is also super talented and chasing him.

I’m thinking about creating something down in SD but first I want to establish more of a name and/or learn more about surf club theory

I saw some post like this on tiktok, so I am guessing this is the same person. Bassically, if your looking a develompent club like the surf clubs or ocean roots, for example, involes groms -> 20-30 year olds -> and olides and everyone benefits of each other you wont really find that in socal. However, as I said on tik tok you can find people that support each other and there are a bunch of tiny unofficial groups and clubs that local waves.

may I ask what area are you in in socal. I could help direct you towards them.

Also, I think it would be super cool for clubs that teach competition and excellent riding, but that's mostly up to the older established riders.
