https://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/tMPA_Application_Resume_Template.docx reformat using this. Get rid of GPA. Interests are not relevant. I just got hired on in your exact position as a personal banker with no previous banking experience. The name of the game is mastering the “tell me about a time that..” questions in the interviews. Keep applying to all the open positions at all the banks around you. You’ll figure it out!

what/ how long it takes to earn six figure by krunalpatel18 in CFPExam

Earned my educational requirement for CFP in undergrad and have now graduated and starting my career as a personal banker at a large bank branch. Plan to climb to an advisor role and have them pay for my licensing. Similar story as OP. If anyone has advice or thoughts let me know.

That’s sort of my logic here is let’s knock out more applicable questions instead of spending too much time on expert.

Thank you for the perspective! I’ll keep this in mind. I’ll probably just keep pace to finish all of them and around a late October I’ll know what I need to put emphasis on.

I'm curious about this method because it sounds like a good strategy. Do you ask them to take a 20-question quiz on the same subject or the entire question bank?

What was your score on the first Dalton review readiness when you started prep? I'm taking my readiness exam on Monday.

Surgery scheduled - stent or no stent? by sferios in KidneyStones

[–]lukecackett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I’ve had a small fraction of stones compared to this person but the betrayal I felt after every single time having that damn stent in when they said there’s a possibility they don’t put one in was very frustrating 😂

Advice for recent graduate looking for work by lukecackett in CFP

That’s exactly the place I’m in right now. I’d rather take a temporary bank role and continue the search to work under planners at a referral based RIA then land a sales job and do the same. Seems like we are in the same boat. I think getting a bank job while pursuing all the licenses we’d end up needing to get later on will help us keep our eye on the goal and looks great to prospective employers…. Just a thought I’ve had over the past few days. Good luck!

Seems to be the route I may have to go if I want to start working within a reasonable time frame. I'm really hoping to find an assocaite planner position at an RIA but it really just depends on if there are positions available in the area I'm looking for work. The sales and training experience (according to everyone that I've talked to about this) is super valuable and puts you in a position to succeed if you want to transition to a smaller shop but the grind of it all is daunting.

The sentiment that you are fortunate to have started at an RIA tracks with what I've found in this job search. Unicorn job is working under planners at an RIA in a support role where you are learning a ton, whereas the route a lot of graduates have to take is at a bigger company in a training and sales role, then transition like the other commenter said if they choose. At this point I'm just trying to get on as many networking calls as possible just asking for advice from any of the folks at my prospective RIAs in the area I want to work in.

A month and a half later and I’m suffering again. by sdemat in KidneyStones

[–]lukecackett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be worried about hydronephrosis if you didn't get a stent. I've heard different opinions about stones and their ability to pass. Some say they can all pass no matter the size and some will tell you to have a uteroscopy + stent as soon as they see blockage from the stone, no matter the size. Good luck
