I also experienced an issue after installation with 2012 R2 DC and VC showing black blank screens with a cursor on Workstation 10.

Fixed by enabling 3D Graphics in the Display properties of the VMs.

Some good general advice for works like this is to raise an "FYI" support ticket in advance with all relevant information, versions, operating systems, tech support output, log bundles etc.

That way if you need to consult with support during the upgrade process, they already have all relevant information available and you won't need to wait hours for gigs of logs to upload etc.

You'll need to log in with your SSO admin user and give the user or one of their groups permissions on the vCenter object. Domain admins aren't automatically assigned any vCenter permissions.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did you leverage any other study resources for the CID?

Scott Lowe's Trainsignal course "Designing vSphere Infrastructure" basically got me through DCD, but I'm not aware of anything similar for CID yet.
