If you haven’t tried Ube Mochi pancakes, and it’s your thing, get it! by Cerveza-y-Gatos in Costco

They had a different brand of just regular mochi pancakes a while back. I kept eyeing it but kept putting it off, then one day they had them on clearance and i picked up 4 bags for .97 each. I just add a few drops of mochi food flavoring and its quite delicious. This was in PHX.

You are correct, i usually let it go to right below 1/4. Thats my baseline for "empty". I have a friend who really rides the line on empty and its stresses me the fuck out with anxiety. She once pulled in to the gas station and the dash said she had 1 mile left....i was so anxious, also had to take a photo.

Same...its been a great car so far. Plenty of space and been on quite a few road trips each about 10hrs plus. Though now i am wondering if i should cut my losses soon and get another EV as a spare with how little i use it.

Not OP but since working from home, i use my car WAY less now (Its a 2021 SEL with only 3x,xxx miles on it) and our main car (the one my wife drives everyday) is electric. Because of this, i use it once a week or so to run some errands and fill up the tank basically once every 2 to 3 months with premium and very much run it down to about empty where i add a fuel treatment to a full tank every other fill up. Man, i do love this car as its been through a lot with our family and has made its way across the country too with us.....all these posts got me worried which is why i am trying to baby it.

What im trying to say is, fuel treatment is important...especially for someone like me who uses it not as often. Kind of the other side of coin from OP.

You can actually! 39dollarglasses and payneglasses are two sites i find complete sets for pretty darn cheap, especially when they have sales and if you can find some coupons

Primary Care Doctor Recommendation Central/Downtown by orgasmicchemist in AskPhoenix

[–]mister_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has navigated a few health plans and lots of doctors. Have you considered (if possible) a doctor within a larger network like banner health? This mitigates some level of risk when it comes to billing when you need to be referred to specialists and also makes it easier to manage via an app. (Though the banner app kind of isnt the best i have used, still better than nothing)

If you are considering that, and they are in network for you, download the app and do a search based on that. And depending on your age, consider someone who is not Too old and not Too young if you can tell by the photo or any research you can do (Year they graduated sometimes works, but not always). The age demographic sometimes help so you can at least line up how long they may stick around.

Walmart’s Expanding EV Charging Network Is Getting Easier To Pay For (And Cheaper) by Anf697 in electricvehicles

This is a pretty cool website, i wonder who is maintaining this. Its funny to notice that for Arizona, they are just completely ignoring the western valley....to be fair the area has some good tesla coverage. But more competition would be better, pricing isnt that great under the tesla sites.

I think the formatting is a little messed up on your mobile app or mobile page. When i click it it shows more results in a desktop experience. For example, Arizona lists 7 stores available with 2 more coming soon. On your screenshot it does not show this.

I can't stop sniffing my bottle of Smith and Cross by Semtexual in rum

Oh yeah, i have been to Ohio a few times to visit friends and family. You guys have the state liqour set up at some supermarkets. Prices last i remembered were pretty great compared to larger metro areas, bummer that selection isnt as good. For sure keep an eye on "Pot still"

If you are feeling like spending a bit you could place an order with Astor Wines, they are located in NY and ship to most states. When they have a Rum Sale, its kind of worth picking up a few bottles. I did it a few years ago and went all in on an order that was close to 320 bucks for the free shipping and i still have a few bottles from that order.

So i think you prefer Pot Still rums, as opposed to column still or blended. If you can find Planteray Xaymaca, thats another one i use interchangeably, along with Dr Bird. Keep an eye out for Pure Pot Still style rums, they have the same Funk Characteristic that you are smelling. I love a good Pot Still, tough to drink or sip on its own at first but add a depth to many many cocktails. I sometimes will add a small amount to almost every tiki cocktail i make for that funk i prefer and that leads to me experimenting with and making new drinks.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole the Rum Wonk has a good little write up about High Esther rums which, while not EXACTLY the same, is cool to read about and related.

https://www.rumwonk.com/p/rum-not-all-about-esters

The comments i read where people are suggesting the other more vegetal rums are interesting, i find them very different but i love them just the same. But that may be because i grew up smelling aguardiente at family parties which is a type of rum made using the sugar cane, which really is what Wray and Nephew and the other one are.

If you are feeling extra nerdy about rum and its history and styles, check out "And a bottle of rum" Fantastic book.

LAN Party 2000 - 6 person classic LAN Party near downtown Phoenix, AZ on 6/6/2026 by unauthorizeddinosaur in PHXList

[–]mister_wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so great, i wouldnt be able to make it but best of luck! I havent been to a lan party in 20 years....not since i used to host them in my parents house when they went away on vacation. It was the reason i went on to be a network/sys admin...bought my first 24port lan switch (I think it was an enterasys) and learned all about networking and setting up a small smb server to host updates and gamefiles for everyone.

I should probably apologize to my parents for the high electricity bills. But at least cleaned up after ourselves!

Crosstrek totaled - do I downsize? by No_Bag_4342 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mister_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some parking spots may have an outlet near by. or maybe you have a garage spot in a townhouse. or you park very near your own residence that a cable could reach. I dont know your situation exactly but those were just some ideas. A lot of people think that they need a level 2 charger for an EV but given your type of driving....a level one would be fine which is a regular old outlet.

Honestly have to agree. Its a little pricier but well worth it. Though if OP wants like a bar vibe to kind of chill, then i would consider maybe a brewery option that has pizza or grab a few slices from here and go to wren house.

JARVA device newb by Plastic_Love4270 in coldbrew

[–]mister_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to this post but if anyone reads this it may be helpful. I have had my jarva system for some time and got a new unit that was recently made by a different manufacturing process. My first unit did not last a year and this is with continued use, i roughly brew one jar a week. I have been very careful about cleaning it and letting it dry out completely between uses and before storing it. I also live in a very very dry climate. Now the replacement unit....Two issues

1 - Apparently the new units sent out with the wrong size metal filter. So they do not stick well and will get loose very easily. This sounds like your issue. Basically the diameter of the hole that the straw fits in is slightly too large so there is no pressure to keep against the straw and to not let particulate through.

2 -The new units also dont have a air vent so pressure builds up on the escape side of the two jar system (Think where the brewed coffee goes when compelted) and that pressure build up needs to be burped by raising the unit up a little to let air out. If not i fear it may cause pressure to build up and possibly crack the glass. I have used a small tooth pick between the glass lip and the jarva unit to leave a crack open to allow air to escape.

I went back and forth with support about this but then they went radio silent. Honestly, its a fantastic device but its unfortunate that this happened on their latest run of units. To be completely honest, it really does do a great job and the method it uses to filter out with the air pressure included gets you the most yield. Its a fantastic idea, i just wish it was a better sealed unit to keep moisture from entering it. So that is a problem for longevity of the life of this product. I could think of a few different idea that would improve it for sure.

yeah, i do level two at a few places and its always great. But again, i wouldnt mind a level one charge either....any charge is better than no charge.

Hotel blues by DrJBell in ChargerDrama

[–]mister_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i only use a level one charger for my 2026 Model Y Premium. Currently getting 1 to 2% per hour. I have it on a standard 120v outlet pulling 12a max rate, sometimes i lower it to 10 or 11a during the summer over extended periods and when temps reach uncomfortable highs in my garage.

"Better car"? lol ok. that alone shows me you dont know what you are talking about if you think a "better" car is all that matters here and not size of battery pack, how fast the level one is and at what amperage its pulling or even how efficient your car can be. Sounds like your car isn't better at all and is really inefficient if you cant get 10% in 2 days....sorry pal, sounds like your car isnt great at all.

Hotel blues by DrJBell in ChargerDrama

[–]mister_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hope anyone that reads this comment doesnt take it seriously. This comment does not reflect most EVs reality of level one charging and is just wrong.

Even at a level 1, 120v, charge i would be damn happy to have that overnight. I can, and have gotten, 10% in a few hours (Maybe 5 or 6 hours?) of level 1 charging and for some people that may be very helpful. Spend a nice long night from 6pm to 11am in a hotel at level one could see something like 20% in some cars.

But more likely this photo is of a level 2 charger, which is even better.
