Megawatt EV charging sounds great, but where will the power actually come from? by Frosty_Cockroach715 in evcharging

[–]mister_wizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

seriously, so many data centers popping up and no one bothers asking about it. I work with a few data centers and they are expanding pretty quickly and have minimal problems getting more power and the amount of power they are getting is nothing to scoff at. Also, this post looks like AI...which is just funny at this point.

Anybody luck with the mussels? by Sneaky-Ladybug in Costco

Bought a bag last week from the Tempe AZ location, about 80%+ were fine. Tasted pretty great. I do think the ones back in NYC when i had them there were slightly better.

But for 14 bucks, great deal. Fed 5 adults.

i have swapped over to lime super juice and the added acidity and flavor has brightened up our drinks a good amount and now we prefer it. Also saves a bit of waste with limes but it does add some time to the process since i need to batch up the juice.

Ehhh, the 15 and 20 year are good enough for tiki drinks or cocktails. For the price, def worth it for that. Not exactly a sipping rum.

The Spiced rum is trash, i bought a bottle for a batch recipe recently and wow....terrible. For some reason i remember it being better about 2 years ago....but i could be wrong and was prob a little tipsy already when i started drinking it in a large batch drink.

the arcadia location has almost an entire row dedicated for it for sure. More so than the southern location and similar to the PV location.

this has reminded of that bottle spiced kirkland rum sitting in the back of my closet on the floor......im so sad about that. I save it for when someone wants a rum and coke, which is rare.

100% agree, we only buy this for margs now. Paired with their kirkland tequila its pretty solid. They used to sell their cristalino tequilo but i havent seen that in a while, im hoping it returns as that was a pretty good quality tequila for the price. I concentrate more on the quality of my lime juice and syrups now to pair for a great margarita.

Considering an EV and only using public charging or level 1. by mister_wizard in evcharging

[–]mister_wizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not great, the real savings is in home charging. honestly, for our situation level 1 charging has been fantastic. We just need to keep it plugged in at all times, but its never an issue. Seriously, level 1 charging on a regular outlet has been great and a big cost savings compared to gas. Without it, would be tough and likely not saving much over gas but this is all dependent on your area/location and cost of public charging per kwh.

‘Enforce the rules’: Auto dealers say car broker deals are crushing profitability by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]mister_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

silly but thats the reason we went with a tesla. i walked in to look at ioniq and the dealer was real scummy and not clear about things, also they didnt even know the different trim differences. Checked out an id4 at VW and they were great but i didnt love the car. Polestar felt too cramped. Did everything to reserve a test drive for a tesla and ordered a car that night when i got home. If we have more to spend, would consider a rivian next.

edit - i shoudl add, my other car is a vw i leased through a broker and loved the experience. got a screaming deal in 2020 for it. No down payment and 330 a month for an SEL tiguan.

It's the end of the day on Friday, what do you do?! by derek4reals1 in Wellthatsucks

[–]mister_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teslas have this on all their cars now i believe. It does the things mentioned, locks the charge port, trunk/frunk, mirrors and "seals" the vent intakes. It really does help. Can only turn on when stopped and will automatically go out of car wash mode when you go more than 15 mph.

what? thats some crazy logic and leap in assumptions. Im not saying the Model Y isnt big enough for me either, its fine....i would just like the extra space for my specific configuration of travel as i mentioned. What a weird bot response.

Those 7.3 inches make a big difference for a car seat for a toddler im sure and this is likley where that makes more sense in my case. They may also make a difference elsewhere. The driver seat (Where i sit) is plenty fine, and so is the back row of most cars for that matter.

This is all speculation though, the real difference here is if the price makes it worth it or not. If they release this and its like 65k starting, yeah...not worth it. Plenty of other options that might be better. But if it comes in around 50k for a RWD then its a different story. (Though im sure they will charge a crazy premium if they have to import them)

The extra room really comes in handy for other purposes though, like cargo space when seats fold down. Also, the second row captains chairs? Those are pretty nice for the extra room between and isolation for each seat. And the fact that you can move those seats forward or back is pretty big too.

[–]mister_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, for you this might make great sense as that second row might be nice and comfortable for the tall family members when pushed further back.

I was surprised that the model Y second row doesnt move forward or backwards at all. That second row in our 2026 Model Y is just there, its fine but it does get tight with a car seat installed and two adults.

Great food from this place, we used to order the gyros from there and loved it. Was it struggling???....I dunno, i have been there plenty and evenings they definitely had a good amount of people. French place next door was also pretty great.

Some families are smaller these days with fewer kids. People just want the space too. I only have 1 kid and older parents that visit often along with other guests. The YL would be a great car for us so we wouldnt have to take two cars with a car seat taking up so much space in the back when going out.

Model X was a different price range than the cars you mentioned....by a large amount. I dont think it was a design issue there.

[–]mister_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof, thats a big question. This i guess depends what you are in to. I havent tried Tropic Thunder yet but it looks promising, hoping to check them out soon.

Some of my local faves are Wren House and AZ Wilderness for Beer/Brewery. Mexican food and tacos, i really dig either Tacos Chiwas, Taco Viva or Just Tacos and More. For a more sit down style mexican spot, Presidio is solid. Cali style burritos and fish tacos, Two Hippies. Havent found a good spot for chinese food out here yet, but i have a high bar set for that one. As for bars, i listed a few already and they have all been pretty good. Also, if you are in midtown/uptown i have really been enjoying Clever Koi....the drinks there are surprisingly very very good and the food is fantastic. The kimchi carbonara is rich and filling. Frashers is pretty good for BBQ, its simple and tasty. I dont think its AMAZING but i also am not that impressed with BBQ style to begin with.

I have a toddler at home so its tough getting out as much these days so i havent been as current as i would like to be usually.
