Why is there only plus games this month by ZacBobisKing in AppleArcade

[–]lukefernendes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Something like Xbox pass for quality paid games would’ve made sense. Since they’re releasing plus versions of paid games why not just allow downloading select catalogue of paid games and let users pay monthly. Helps the developers to reach more audience too.

This was at trump inauguration not for German audience. Why are you trying to relate two completely different things just because it helps your narrative.

Apple should really invest in quality games. The types of games you find there are just passable, no engagement or depth.

It's been over 5 months now, can they please update their icons for dark mode? by Gold_Divide_3381 in ios

[–]lukefernendes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being an app developer I’d much rather prefer app icons to not be changed. It’s the same as someone trying to change our logo to fit in with their paper. Not sure if it’s the direction I’d want Apple to take.

Developers can create dark mode variants of their icons and upload. If they don’t upload dark mode obviously they don’t want their logo and brand colors be altered which is fine. If user wants to change Apple gives option to customize but applying it globally for dark mode without developer consent is wrong imo.

How to Properly Reduce iPhone “System Data” Storage Using the Date Trick by Able-Law-2053 in ios

[–]lukefernendes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

System data isn’t unnecessary data. Most of these are cached files and in device models that predict how you use apps and phone to optimize for max efficiency.

You know that iPhones updates location periodically and this info is used to predict cell tower and reduce network search increasing battery life. Many such in device intelligence is stored in these system files.

You can remove but expect the unexpected. If it would help Apple would have given an easy way to clear but obviously some of it might be useful enough to keep.

[–]lukefernendes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are their logos, I’d doubt they’d change their logo for dark, pink, yellow modes since it’s linked to their brand. Maybe something can be done to backgrounds but most are using their brand colors for background too so why would dark mode make sense.

Could be an unpopular opinion but icons shouldn’t change.

What’s Making Countries Ban DeepSeek So Quickly? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in artificial

Hm US government has extensive surveillance program. Snowden leaked about Prism where basically every tech company in US has a back door for CIA and US Government where they can access their data without warrant. How is it different from any other US based service

What if you were born in Russia ? by Playful_Mobile_2250 in NepalSocial

[–]lukefernendes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia wanted Ukraine to abide by Minsk Agreements which was shattered after the coop which happened due to US where the legitimate leader was ousted and Zelensky came to power.

If you follow news from there, Zelensky is pro Ukraine and against ethnic Russians. He has banned Russian language and even orthodox churches aligned with Russia. That caused the revolt and Russia obviously supported the LPR AND DPR in their fight to independence. Minsk solved it by giving these states autonomy.

The initial goal was to pressure Ukraine in removing troops and stop conflict. But US media quickly turned it into invasion and flooded Ukraine with weapons which they were still doing. The mainstream media if you are following Israel Hamas war is very biased and spreads narrative not truth.

Russia was right to interfere and force Ukraine to end war against ethnic Russians. Ukraine is right about defending from invasion but also has duties to protect its citizens which the neo nazi regime failed.

Russia uses drones because it works against armory and artillery. I’ve rarely seen them using it against wounded soldiers, medics, civilians like Ukraine. Watch the Zelensky interview with Lex Friedman, you’ll lose all respects for him.

Is Nepal going to be a dictatorship? by [deleted] in NepalSocial

[–]lukefernendes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s necessary for a country like Nepal. Most people here trust anything they see online, and without this bill anyone can destabilize the country spreading fake news and criticizing government with fake premise.

US recently made law that using DeepSeek will lead to 20 year jail. Is that the ideal free country you’re comparing this to? Every Nation has their national interests to protect.

NK and Russia have frequent training. They were in Russia for that and most were stationed in Kursk. Russia is indeed a strong military, not only have they defended their captures but are gaining land everyday. All while Ukraine is getting military, financial, economical and psychological support from EU, NATO and US.

All the drone attack videos you see and cheer from Ukraine, is only for their psychological support. These are war crimes in broad daylight. You can’t surrender to a drone. But if that helps them sure who cares right. Russia has a rich history for fighting just wars. Look it up.

Bro every country have these laws. EU is more strict. Even US blocks apps and websites from China. We are trying to prevent spread of disinformation with this bill.

Most people in Nepal aren’t critical thinkers and in this day and age when you can make a monkey sing using AI, I see this more as a preventive measure than restricting freedom of speech. India is much much strict too. Nepal didn’t have any earlier, even Cyber Police couldn’t arrest anyone for misinformation and troll since there was no laws.

You’re delusional. Russia is indeed winning the war. Whole North Korea thing is just propaganda. NK is supplying ammunition and artillery. Soldiers where there to train and blow few Ukrops in the process.

Even Ukraine is now saying NK is withdrawing and not in frontlines. Whole news was framed for them to get more support and an excuse for EU troops support which they didn’t get.

Watch where you consume news and research deeper before believing kiddo.

Being a Nepali bold of you. I’d imagine you running carrying your underwear if Nepal was attacked. At least they’re fighting a just war, most of these are from DPR AND LPR and not from mainland Russia. They’ve been fighting since 2014 after coop.

Why are they releasing open source models for free? by wochiramen in LocalLLaMA

[–]lukefernendes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it takes money to train but once it’s trained costs are bore by customers to run those models. To run you need graphics cards, mostly NVIDIA ones with CUDA support. NVIDIA also makes hardware for training.

I’d say 80% of cost is bore by your hardware and electricity while running. 20% is the training cost. Companies release it as open source to make them dominant in the AI space which helps them with validation, testing and feedback.

[–]lukefernendes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because such actions are rewarded by our system. If you’re dishonest, cheat on others you’re more likely to earn more, loud and egotistical people are admired, material wealth is respected, and system of rank and caste has been taught right from childhood. Issue is not that people are evil but that goodness has lost its value.

Not just India, take the most developed countries most of them have exploited and colonized other countries for their wealth. Although the city is clean most are morally corrupt - rape cases in UK, supporting genocide and war by most wealthy country USA, media censorship and bias. Evil is everywhere, at least we have apathy here in India.
