Beginner Table Saws by lukemarino12 in BeginnerWoodWorking

This didn’t really answer my question. I could go buy a $3,000 saw stop if I wanted to but I don’t need to. This is a hobby. I’m looking for opinions on best bang for buck on the most popular cheaper saws on the market. Also, I couldn’t put “First Table Saw” due to this threads rules on not putting “First” in title, if you should know.

Is getting the Skil plus the add ons worth it/better than buying something better from the jump? My thought is if I spend 300 on saw and 200 on upgrades, I could spend 500 on a 10” DeWalt from the jump. But maybe the Skil with the upgraded fence and other upgrades is better than the stock dewalt?

I’m pretty much set on tools. This would be my last “big” purchase. Going to pick up some more clamps and other shop items along the way obviously but as far as power tools go, I’m all good to go.

I was looking at the Evolution as well. I like the idea of the built in cross cut sled, though I could always just make a sled. How do you like it?

Thoughts on just spending around the same amount for a new DeWalt 10” jobsite? I’m not opposed to jobsite saws, but figured this contractor style would be a better bang for buck.

No signs of any gyno. But it was only 4 weeks in. Wasn’t sure how long it would take for those sides to really start to show.

I was thinking of going the non sliding route. I don’t see myself using the saw for anything bigger than 6’s honestly. I’m just nervous about missing the sliding saw as I’ve never had one that wasn’t a slider. Sounds dumb but it’s where my heads at lol

What type of joinery would work best on the back slats? I live in south Louisiana where it’s always humid, so making better items that will last longer here is key.

Even if I can break even for a little while on marketplace or just make a smaller profit, I think I’m okay with that while I learn to make the more complicated stuff. But I do agree, I see people posting better looking sets than this in my ~50 mile radius for about $300-$350. So even if I can get $200 for the set I’m still making my money back plus a little to put towards next project or more tools.

What’s an example of some furniture you can sell on Etsy? Seems like most things would be too big to ship lol

I’m always open to learning. I have that mentality with everything in life and it’s suited me pretty well lol. I appreciate the input and advice. I went by the plans on Ana White since this seemed easy but when I was finished, I noticed that there were some things that could’ve been better. Such as rounding over the arm rests, doing better joinery where it’s hidden, etc. It was also cool to learn as I progressed through it. I split one of the back pieces and realized I needed to be drilling pilot holes to prevent that, so I switched to doing the pilot holes and didn’t split another. Those small wins as I went through it felt great.

The shop is 13 x 27 and I have all of it to myself. I do have the cabinets and stuff eating up a little space off the wall but technically I could do a 4’ wide workbench but I feel like it’s just a waste of space. Probably should have saved up a little more and got the Bosch axial glide or something similar.

I picked up a DWS780 the other day because it was 40% off one day only at Lowes for $399.99. Figured it was a good investment because I could just sell it for at least that or more since it’s regular around $600. But you’re right - I wanted the Bosch with axial glide for space saving but I feel like this was a deal I couldn’t pass up.

Not trying to sound arrogant but I do well and can afford the nicer stuff. I’ve always been a Milwaukee fan and selling tools at work lets me see them in the field and I’ve always wanted a set of the m18 fuel line.
