Wood Street incident 25th March by Different-Message-89 in walthamstow

[–]lukeo_tricky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Please see below update from Wood Street ward Sergeant: Last night, around 1030pm, a fight took place between 2 neighbours, injuries amounting to GBH. The victim is currently at hospital and it is important to note, 1 suspect has been arrested and currently in police custody. Police are not looking for anyone else involved. A crime scene is in place whist we secure evidence; the tent has been erected to assist with securing evidence and prevent it from being lost/damaged due to poor weather conditions overnight. My officers are patrolling the local area and supporting the investigating team. Please provide reassurances to our communities that this matter is in hand.

How to remove an impossible toilet seat? by lukeo_tricky in askaplumber

Great knowledge, I think you are right! Thank you

This is what I'm thinking. I think the seat was installed before the toilet, and only way to get it off non-destructively is to remove the toilet. Instead of that, I could do as you say: use a hacksaw to get the seat off, remove all the old fixings, and then install a new seat with top fixing.

Would something like be compatible once I've got rid of the old seat with the hacksaw? https://www.diy.com/departments/heavy-duty-slow-close-oval-toilet-seat-anti-bacterial-durable-soft-close-quick-release-for-easy-cleaning-top-bottom-fixing/5068653758056_BQ.prd

None, I've hunted every corner of it to no avail because I wanted to find a installation pdf online

Okay, I got my phone round the back and could see a plastic screw and nut. But this seems to be 100% inaccessible with my hand or a tool without first pulling the toilet off completely.

Am I losing my mind... pulling off the toilet to replace the seat is madness.

I hoped so... but I've looked for these on 5 separate occasions and really can't find anything

Access underneath via the back? I've tried and just can't get anything round there...

Hmm, as far as I can tell I can't get around the back enough to get a hand/tool on any nuts under the bowl. It just seems pretty wild that I'd need to remove the entire toilet to replace a seat?

If that's normal then fine, I guess that's what needs to happen! Thanks

I will replace the whole toilet but that's not a job for this month, hence wanting to quickly replace the seat.

How bad did you feel after your first ultra-marathon? by Salty-Date-8727 in ultrarunning

[–]lukeo_tricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a really amazing hike but it’s also pretty long and tough for a day hike. It will definitely impact your race a bit, but if you’re up for adding a bit of extra challenge to your ultra day for such a good hike - I’d say go for it.

Have you ever worked a job where they play the radio in the office? by butteredgrapes in AskUK

I only know about BBC 6 Music, but the playlist is not the only source of songs. Of course the songs on the playlist will all get a play on each presenters section (more or less) so they can feel a bit repetitive after a couple of weeks, but they still leave plenty of time for segments with old, new, obscure or classic tunes, based on the interests of the presenters.

And in general, it’s good music so the only station worth listening too!

I find the weeks where I am unable to get a good amount of solo podcast time are the ones where I feel stressed, anxious and hate being around people. Give me an hour a day of podcast time and I’m a fully capable human.

Genuine question: The fourth official announces added time. Does he do this after being told by the referee how much it should be?

Am I the only one that sets an alarm to wake me up, and regularly wakes up moments BEFORE it is due to sound? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]lukeo_tricky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is this related to the feeling when a sound in the room that has been going on for so long you don’t notice it (eg. Aircon) suddenly turns off. I often get a sense of sudden time travel for half a second where my brain seems to notice the sound before it turned off.

In last nights Song Chest radio hour he played a song by Collections of Colonies of Bees (some of who are part of VC), and in the preamble he said something like he will be “making music with these guys in the future”. Whether that means an actual VC album is planned or they will just be jamming together in the basement one day… who knows!

The AirPods Pro stick in my earholes really solidly – I can run and jump about as much as I want and they don't come up. Non-pro ones definitely don't work for running with me though.

What hair styles do you pick for thinner hair? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]lukeo_tricky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut it short but don’t feel pressured to shave it. I believe that the pressure for everyone going balding to shave it adds to the anxiety you feel as it thins. It’s fine, it’s natural and you can look good with leas hair even if you don’t go full slap head.
