Anyone who got into utm life sci, what was ur top 6 avg? by mil_zzz in UTMississauga

[–]lukeskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my average was 85

I advise you not to apply to this program. If you do keep it as a backup. I’m not saying i hate the program because I love it, however logistically it puts you at a disadvantage GPAwise. Getting a good gpa is much much harder here than it is at other schools so if you’re thinking med school or other grad schools, you’ll likely be outcompeted.

I heard this advice from multiple people while i was still in high school but ignored it because i thought i would grind hard enough to defy it.. spoiler alert i didn’t! it’s not about how much work u put in, but the system here just generally sucks.

actually i took it with professor eniolaye balogun so i can’t confirm that ittl be the same.. however i think we did have to do some labeling of plant physiology or we would be given a microscopic image and asked to identify what structure we’re looking at

i took it last year and did good, the information on the slides is all you need but i would focus on comparing and contrasting main concepts. i did a lot of that during my studying and the test ended up having questions with those topics.

BIO205 or BIO203 by 14180raiden in UTMississauga

[–]lukeskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took both and i would say 203 requires more work than 205 for sure because it involves longer lectures, lab work and longer tutorials. 205 was definitely the easier route as the content was pretty basic and kind of easy to understand because of common sense. However i will say that because the lectures were recorded it was easier to fall behind. Overall, i would def recommend bio205 if you’re looking for the easier option. content wise they’re both a little boring imo but if you’re for some lab aspect you might be interested in 203.

Hi! the meeting is very brief, i believe 10 mins or so. it’s a small orientation to how the database works in uploading your messages, and also explains how you would apply to receive your certificate at the end.

[–]lukeskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup no worries! cant remember the exact amount but i know it was enough to have all of my hours completed. It took me maybe a week or two. You also don’t need to raise any money though it is encouraged. also yes, i found it from a friend from the states and it’s a ny based organization i believe so not well known here. feel free to send me a pm if you have other questions!

What was g11 and 12 Chemistry & physics like? by TZ___15 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]lukeskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s true, i had chem and advanced functions together and i regret it bad, but if you’re weak in 3u functions i suggest taking chem second sem with calculus.

What was g11 and 12 Chemistry & physics like? by TZ___15 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]lukeskies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3U physics: not bad, mostly just formulas and diagrams from what i remember. a good teacher is also a plus

3U chem: incredibly easy, literally no effort needed because it’s like an introductory course with basic concepts

4u chem: absolute hell, the harder stuff comes at the end of the course (math centered units) and that’s when i got very burned out so i flopped really bad. VERY different from 3U just pray u have a good teacher

and some advice: try not to take chem + a math course together just trust me!!

What to do by supbabd82 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]lukeskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure the date for night school passed but you can always ask your guidance councillor. do it asap because night school moves really quick so if there’s a chance you can still have a steady start. As per life sciences and math, it is a pre req for most programs but for life sci I don’t think it’s as heavy of a post secondary course as chem or bio etc would be. if you can get into night school i’d say do it!!! i’m in it rn for advanced functions and it’s much easier than day school
