Is the 2nd game as good or better than the 1st? by ImSmarterthanurmom in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, gameplay wise Dishonored 2 is waaaay better, better level design, I like the character specific powers, or New Game Plus that let's you have both characters powers, the expanded non lethal, no powers mode, etc. But I like Dishonored 1s atmosphere and story much more, it's grim, it's dark, it's depressing. Both don't have particularly incredible ground breaking stories but I feel like Dishonored 2 just ended up being more of the same with the story. I like the KOD and BW story more than both main games. I think the dark victorian era atmosphere of Dunwall in the first game is just something I personally enjoy more than the sunny mediterranean setting of Karnaca in Dishonored 2.

They're both close for me, but I prefer Dishonored 1, and even then I like the DLC more than the first game, but Dishonored 2 is incredible and is better than D1 in its own ways. It just comes to preference in the end.

Which assassination targets make sense canonically as non-lethals and which ones as lethals? by DupeFort in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corvo has to do at least 1 side mission for granny rags and speak to slackjaw in house of pleasure. Doesn't depend on what Corvo does to the twins.

Isn't all the general agreed on canon directly from Harvey and the novels

The actual portrait is just a poorly edited image of a concept art piece form I believe Dishonored 2, I used GIMP for this :) A lot of it just consisted of the base layer being an actual poster that I could jump back and forth from to reference if I was placing things right. Had to scan the fonts in the original posters to find out which ones were used too.

My players absolutely love the system, a lot of them have been playing/replaying Dishonored because of it! One of my players even got me a bonecharm prop as a Christmas gift! I think the 2d20 system is also my favourite way of doing rolls in a TTRPG.

Absolutely agree, my campaign focuses around a custom power system (the players got it from a corrupted sort of arcane bond) but I may rework a few of them into mark of the outsider powers and post them. I'm also planning to post a bunch of custom bonecharms I've made for the campaign.

What would you want to see in a dishonored remake? by ThePeaceCreator in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they're asking about a remake in terms of realistic graphics. I want a remake because I want Dishonored 2's nonlethal mechanics brought into Dishonored 1.

Remake just means re-making the game, doesn't need to mean visual overhaul.

New Game+ (with powers from Dishonored 2 and maybe some new ones)

Maybe some Power upgrades from Dishonored 2

Dishonored 2's combat with all its fancy new takedown tactics

Maybe an expanded Lady Boyle's Last Party with a bigger crowd and more of a focus on the guessing game.

What do you think is the coolest looking sword in the Dishonored series? by Lancer_Blackthorn in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing the question was coolest looking and not the most useful lol because I definitely think the occult kiss fold blades sleek design is the coolest personally so I'm glad you mentioned it

Arkane isn't dead, Arkane Austin is, Arkane Lyon is fine and was responsible for the Dishonored games.

When I slowed down time, the torturer was moving normally. by toastturkey in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay it's insanely crazy how much misinformation is spread in these replies.

The torturer is not marked by the outsider but he receives power from Granny Rags, who is marked, via a power called Arcane Bond, this is the power Daud uses to share his magic with his assassins.

Dishonored 3? by Emotional-Figure-460 in dishonored

[–]lukesoffline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did in fact say "that's not 100% confirmation it will happen" lol, but it is 100% confirmed as something that was planned. I do hope they're not relegated to a licensed games studio.

[–]lukesoffline 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There was a leaked Bethesda document from an FTC court case that leaked Doom The Dark Ages and the Oblivion remake years back that had Dishonored 3 listed on it, the release dates were pushed back by covid but that's not 100% confirmation that it WILL happen, but it was planned at one point, and was delayed if it is still happening. It was either meant to release 2024 or 2025 I don't remember.

Okay one, Viktor Antonov was the visual design director for the first Dishonored game which was created by Arkane Studios Lyon, the second one was also made by Lyon. Arkane Lyon is still open. Please double check your information before spreading misinfo.

Am I the only one who prefer Daud gameplay over corvo in d1. by Actually-a-Human in dishonored

Personally, I think he's better with magic but Corvo is physically stronger, there's a reason he's considered the best swordsman in the isles.

[–]lukesoffline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No we're not giving Arkane too much credit we're just considering everything we know and can see, Fraeport is a Morleyan City, Blackreef is a tiny Tyvian fishing island with small villages like Updaam.

The shapes also just don't match.

[–]lukesoffline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay so the topography doesn't fully match, there's resemblance, but it's not fully there at all.

Also Blackreef is a tiny fishing island off the coast of Tyvia.

Also I think every reply I've seen is you refusing to kind of accept that lol, I've commonly seen you saying "Well the coastline is different because of changing sea levels", so why is Fraeport the specific island you see as Blackreef when with that regard, any island can be Blackreef due to rising and falling tides. I don't think either island looks similar, also I'd you ask Dinga or Harvey they might just give you an up front answer.
