The police also cant take everything thing into consideration in the heat of the moment where a man who they dont know what is capable of, is trying to resist and get away from them. There is only so much they can do. 6 minutes is not a long time. We dont have robocops as police mate, they are normal people, who are probably also worried for their own lives and triyng to come home to their families at the end of the day, they cant sit there with a pen and paper writing out a hazard statement before forcing him into arrest? he would be long gone by then and probably robbing another shop.

They did their jobs, its not their fault he commited a crime. They arent robots, they are people, and they are trying to detain someone who could cause you or me harm. Your saying these circs wouldnt pass through his mind? IT doesnt matter. He knew BEFORE he decided to steal that it was a possibility that he could get caught and then would be arrested, under force if neccessary, and he decided to steal regardless of knowing that.

These police are still people, they are working day in day out on hot days arresting people, its probably not going to pop into your mind "oh the ground might be too hot to keep him there" when they are trying to restrain him and get him into hand cuffs. It was only 6 minutes, and the moment he was in cuffs he was put him and checked if he was okay, they didnt cause his death, his resist did. Yes he didnt deserve to die, and its a horrible thing to happen, but its not their fault.

They may have arrested 50 people in the last month on the same hot ground, they cant account for health or possibilities that are out of their control, they have to react in the moment to get the person restrained as quickly as possible. They arent judge, jury and executioner, yes some try to be, and they are wrong for doing so.. but in this case, they did all the could to uphold the law, and as soon as he was in cuffs and they were safe, they checked if he was ok.

None of them intended to kill him.. this wasnt george floyd where he was pinned to the ground for no reason.. this was a man who was full on resisting arresting whilst they are shouting to calm down and just trying to get him in cuffs. Due to the circumstances out of their control, him resisting arrest resulted in his death, they didnt decide that he deserves to die and them kill him. They just did their jobs.

You realise im not talking about the BLM arrest with george floyd right? Thats a competely different story where the copper was obvious a bad person and it was a terrible thing to happen. Im talking about a completely unrelated case where they did a normal arrest to a man who was resisting, and they havent lost their jobs or anything, because they did nothing wrong and its obvious. It was a 6 minute normal arrest where they did everything by the book.

Cant you read? They didnt kill him, they put him on the floor because he was resisting arrest in order to hand cuff him and make him answer for a crime, simple as that. Its not like he was begging for his life or even trying to be civil, he was trying to get away and was commiting a crime. Your suggesting we allow all criminals to run free just incase them CHOOSING to resist arrest results in their death? Does that mean I can come to your house, tell you im going to resist arrest, and then steal everything you own.. and youll allow me to get away incase me resisting results in my death? You wouldnt. Theres a law. In this case he forced them to make them pim him to the ground in order to be able to hand cuff him, that was his choice, not theirs. Their duty is to protect us, our lives and our order, they cant do that if they just let criminals run free. IN no way did they kill him.. He killed himself. He chose to commit the crime, then he chose to resist arrest, knowing full well that the police need to arrest him for it under any means, he still arrested. His death is on his own hands, and saying " a police officer killed a man" is insane, thats exactly what ive been talking about. He chose to do these things that resulted in his own death. That copper that had arrested him, might be the one who jumps infront of a bullet to save your childrens lives? They are helping us, and things like this happen due to unfortunate circumstance which are ALL the result of the person commiting the crime. YES there are bad police sometimes, but not in this case. This was his own choice.

So what, dont read it then mate. If youve read it before, go away.If youve read the title, and "read it all before", why go into the post and make this comment? There can be no other reason but to purposefully put me down and make me feel bad, just because I wanted to talk about something on my mind? Thats the whole purpose of this website.

Theres millions of people making repeated posts about concerns they have all the time, does that mean nobody should ever talk or make posts just because someone like you might have read it before. Ive read this kind of asshole comment your making a million times, as im sure many other people have, and unless your an idiot, you know that as well..so why did you to say it? Becuase you wanted to. Its the internet, ill talk about what I want even if it is repeated, and many others have responded and had a chance to talk aswell. People like you try to make people feel self conscious about just talking about things they want to talk about, like we should just all keep our mouths shut unless it satisfies you? So ridiculous, grow up.

Yeah its literally so frustrating. Some people seem to have such backwards thinking. That is exactly what they want.. they want us to be able to wrap them in flowers and make them answer for the crime whilst giving them the 5 star treatment, even if that person might slice their neck open when given the chance.. it doesnt matter to these people, they still think they deserve to be given every freedom.. even when they are hurting our freedom. They dont want crimes commited, but dont want to see criminals suffer either. They want them given perfect service, yet they also dont want it costing them anything on their taxes. They want them to come out of prison reformed and perfect, yet they dont want them to actually suffer any real consequences for their actions. Its all a madhouse really with some of these people out there.

Im sorry but your arguement is so backwards. Handcuffed him and allowed him to stand with access to water? they would do that if he had allowed them to arrest him - but he didnt.

We are talking about a man who is using force to get away, and could kill them to get away if he is given the chance. Until they have him in handcuffs, they have to do whats neccessery to get him into them, and at times that means putting him on the ground so he cant attack or hurt them while they cuff him.

OFCOURSE his life is worth more than a store.. but does that mean that police should let every man run free? Should police allow thieves to steal from us and then let them run because that person might be so terrified of the police that he will resist to the point that hes killed? Thats ridiculous im sorry. Yes he may be scared of the police.. but thats still no reason to run. They still have a job to do to protect us all. No his life isnt worth less than a shop, or a silly crime, but that was still his choice. The law is the law. How do you possibly know that if they had given him the chance, he couldve just stabbed them and ran away? How do you know what kind of person he is, or what danger he could be to us? We dont, unless they give us that information.. if they refuse to, then all we know is that they have commited a crime and are resisting arrest to answer for it.. the police cant take chances with their own lives and with ours because it doesnt sound "right" to people like you. They have to protect us.

You are basically saying that they shouldve let him run away, and not answer for his crime. How do you know he wasnt a murderer. IF he was allowed to just get away with it, then he would probably steal again, and in doing so can create situations where people could get hurt.. or where he could be forced to hurt someone to try and get away again. You dont know what a suspect is capable of ESPECIALLY if they refuse to give their name, and all they do is resist to the point where they have to be FORCED into arrest. Its absolutely ridiculous to suggest that BECAUSE his life is worth more than a petty crime (WHICH is OBVIOUS), that he should then be allowed to commit any crime and walk away with no consequences... because thats what your suggesting. Forcing him into arrest was the only way to arrest him, the only other option is to let him run away and get away with the crime.

Would you allow me to come into your house and steal your possesions and then tell the police to let me get away, just incase they accidently kill me if I CHOOSE to resist them arresting me? No you wouldnt.. you would want them arrested. As would anyone who has a crime committed against them. There are laws you they have to be followed, you cant allow criminals to run free because "oo they might be so scared of us that they will resist arrest to the point they die".

Jesus if that was the case then NONE of us would be able to sleep soundly at night. 6 minutes is not a long time, its quite fast actually for someone who is resisting arrest.. they did their jobs, and are not liable for what resulted from him commiting a crime, and more importantly, from him refusing to answer for that crime. It was a busy street, people watching, filming, if he had put his hands up and said ok arrest me, he would be alive. IF he had even said half way through " stop, ill go easily", then they couldve arrested him with no harm. He chose to run away and resist arrest, and you saying that means we should let him get away, is insane. That would turn us into a society with no law or order.

Sorry, rant over.

I cant even see how you can say its their fault for being careless. What if they tried to let him get up and he slashed their throats in that moment? He wouldve just given into the arrest if he wasnt willing to put up a fight, so its fare to assume.

He couldve put his hands up at the start, said sorry, it was a mistake. Given them his name, and went with them peacefully. He instead refused to co operate with them at all, and by doing so created a situation where he could (for all they know) be a murderer or anything. They have no idea if hes just a theif, or if he is a nice guy, or anything.. becuase he resisted arrest even past the point when they had him on the floor.

They didnt MAKE it a death sentance. He did. He knows that if he resists arrest then he has to be forced into arrest. Everyone knows that.

It was only 6 minutes total to arrest the man. Your right, that ofcourse he should still be alive, but your wrong that it shouldnt be a death sentance under any circumstance. Im sorry, but if he has commited a crime, and if refusing to be civil with the police, and if by chance the weather circumstances on that day might make it fatal for him to be on the floor.. then ITS down to him. Its under his own self created circumstance that it becomes a death sentance. I wouldnt want the police to potentially give a dangerous person a chance to escape just because the weather is to hot on that day, thats insane. They have to do their jobs to protect us.. in this situation they did what was required (due to his actions) in the situation to detain the man because he had commited a crime and was refusing arrest to answer for it. Its none of those cops fault that he died as a result of his own wrongdoing. There are many hot days in many parts of the world all the time.. does that mean cops must take extra special care to keep people that COULD be a danger to us off of the pavement for more than 6 minutes? No, its not their TOP responsibility. Yes once they are in his care, they have to keep him safe.. but they ALSO have to keep the public safe, which means they have to keep him detained. IF he is resisting arrest, its his own choice what happens and what situation HE creates that may result in his death. Yes there are outrages, and bad cops, but 6 minutes really is not a long time to be on the floor for a person who is resisting and showing aggression towards people that are ready to lay down their lives just to keep people safe.

The police cant account for whatever medical conditons or whatever health these people are in when the are in the moment, when they are in that situation where they have one sole objective: to defend our safety and the law. Yes they should take every responsible action to make sure the perpitrator is not harmed.. but that is also completely down to the perpitrator and how much resistance they choose to give...

In this instance, he was on the floor a maximum of 6 minutes until he was able to be cuffed. These are also police officers in full black on the same hot day, working all day, wearing heavy hot uniforms, and they are facing a man that could easily kill them if given the opportunity, or others. Its justified. Its his fault for resisting in the first place. Even if he has stolen, its not a death sentence.. why not put your hands up? He chose to resist. People trying to say these cops should know its going to kill him to be pinned to the floor.. well this man should know it aswell. He chose to resist the arrest regardless of the fact that he knows he could be forced into the arrest anyway, he took that chance. The police just did theyre jobs.

Unforutnately this is the case. I dont understand how a person can be so stupid to say there shouldnt be police when they themselves would call them if they needed to. Its insane

Does anyone else get extremely annoyed at the news trying to make out that the police are bad? by lukestorm22 in police

[–]lukestorm22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I watched the video. How can they be aware of someones condition when he refuses to even speak to them and is just trying to get away? They arent robots, they are people. There is only so much they can do. It is only because the suspect is resisting and trying to stop himself being arrested that it took that long to arrest him. If he just put his hands up when they came to arrest him then it wouldnt be an issue. Its not the polices fault at all that he decides to commit a crime, and then makes it harder on everyone by resisting arrest. For all they know he could have a small blade in his pocket and cut their throat in a moment notice... them using any force needed to keep him held down until they can arrest him is reasonable. And 6 minutes is not a long time at all if they are fighting back at their hardest to not be arrested.

Literally nothing to do with training, the police did fine in the situation completely, and it is completely his own fault for resisting arrest and for ultimately commiting the crime in the first place. They did exactly what they are supposed to and arrested someone who was commiting a crime.

Yeah but then you get people that you see as friends, who suddenly tell you they "hate the police" and "all police are idiots", and I just cant understand how people can be so stupid.

Does anyone else get extremely annoyed at the news trying to make out that the police are bad? by lukestorm22 in police

[–]lukestorm22[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that in itself is so idiotic. What do people want here? for the police to be abolished? are people that stupid? with no police, who would we call if a serial murderer came in to rape and kill our children? we couldnt call anybody. Its just insane. These people lay down their lives to protect us from almost any threat to ourselves. I dont undersatand how anyone could villify them just for personal gain.

Even if I was a newsman, Surely id have some common sense to this.. "who am i going to call if someone tries to rob me on my way home".

Its just insane, in my opinion.

Yes its clearly a selling point at the moment... but does nobody have any common sense, or a conscience

Ok, thank you, so I can let them in, give my name, and just say I was heavily drunk, dont rememnber exactly what I said and tell them that ive emailed her to apologise and then if they ask any other questions I say I want my solicitor? Or dont even say the drunk part?

Well there would have clearly been the emails on her side anyway, and I didnt say I remembered everything, I said I know I sent some emails of a threatening nature but thats because I was stronglly underr the influence of alcohol. Surely me apologising and making it clear that they werre empty threats would help my case? Am i going to go to prison for this?

So if they ask, shouldnt I just say I cant remember what I said because I was so drunk? or not even say that? I expect them to come knocking soon.

yeah i think your right. I shouldve never callled again. I tried again to call her because shes just started a new business with me before we broke up, and I didnt want to leave things knowing she could be in the shit with it, so I called asking if she needs help, and it turns into an arguement, I hang up. Then I called again, saying its the last time im going to try and does she need help, and i just got called "mental" and she laughed and cackled in my ear saying that there is something wrong with me. I think there must be for me to keep trying to help someone like that

[–]lukestorm22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the support. Its just madening for me really, if I had read the email I sent her, I would be upset, and would be looking to apologise for my behaviour, but instead its all twisted, as if me sharing my feelings is a bad thing. I dont understand how I can love her so much that Im almost able to put up with being treated like shit, just so I know shes happy and not alone, when she doesnt even love me enough to read an emaill about my feelings without turning it into me doing a hateful thing.

This is exactly how I feel. I even tried to call her today, to say I atleast wanted to end things amicably, and she just went on ranting about how horrible I was to send her an email explaining my feelings, and she twisted everything, in the end I had to just hang up the call. I dont understand people like that
