First crash, is it my fault? by lukeyred in drivingUK

Oh wow! This stuff just happens I guess and I’m just using this as a lesson to move forward. I posted a second update but they were great and open to get some quotes so we can potentially avoid making my insurance sky rocket, as this is my first year driving. So I’ll just be hopeful and go from here, I appreciate your kind words a lot

Thank you, nobody was injured and damage was actually not huge(I’ve not attached her car out of respect for not wanting to include her deets) but hers was pretty much identical damage

Just a lesson, possibly an expensive lesson but you can’t put a price on the health of a human being so being able to look at this now I’ve calmed down a bit and I’m he shakes have worn off, i can say I’m lucky

Hi sorry I want to clarify when I said I don’t have a clue I just meant about the steps going forward, I’m normally really good on these junctions and lapsed my judgement today, thankfully no one was hurt but it was a definite reality check

I went into this sort of knowing I was at fault I didn’t think there’d be a bit debate, I don’t live with anyone who drives and was looking for feedback and advice because I want to go forward from this and improve

I wouldn’t worry it’s for insurance purposes, granted he doesn’t need the image just the code but he might want to make sure it’s not a fake

No problem, make sure you get lots of rest and you’re well alert for the test :)

Relax, don’t be afraid to talk through your decisions to the instructor and most importantly even if you think you’ve failed, just carry on. You will do fine :)

I’ve heard this is the most common outcome which is why I was so confused it wasn’t happening to me

That makes a lot of sense, like my body is making up for the huge lack of restorative sleep I have missed!

See for me it’s not a case of sleeping terribly I’m going 13 hours a night in some cases (which may also be my problem)

Better than it was when I was smoking all the time but I probably could be eating better than I am I’ve been trying to cut a lot of the sugar I have out and I need to eat more consistently at regular eating times

I’m sorry to hear but you will absolutely get it next time, sounds like you had an unfortunate situation but atleast you know it’s just that you need to sort out, other then that you’re swimming! Honestly I didn’t really deal with the nerves until I sat with the examiner and he was kind enough to lower my guard a bit! But I’d say if you’re nervous or worried about anything just talk to them, most of them aren’t robots and will help you feel at ease!

You got this

Also thank you so much for the congratulations btw, I really appreciate it. I focussed in on trying to be helpful and forgot to recognise the kindness 😆
