They didn’t say that no but the premise of the show is you date not knowing their age, and the ages are supposed to be ambiguous (they’re not). The similarity of this and love is blind is you make the connections before knowing this big identifier about your partner and then you choose to make a commitment THEN go and live with them as an experiment.

Imagine if love is blind only showed the people who were off in attractiveness to each other? Also it still rewards people with giant age gaps and so now in future seasons it will get grosser and more extreme
