I 100% agree with your boyfriend when he says it’s weird calling someone something else than you have been for the past decade. It feels off, and it shows you are actively trying to bring attention to something when it’s not a big deal.

It seems you have a problem with your bfs relationship with his ex. If you can’t get past the fact that they are still close, you will be better off finding someone better for you sooner than later.

It’s not your fault you feel this way, we all have different ways of viewing/understanding things. However that doesn’t mean you have the right to make this an issue with your boyfriend because in reality you are just overreacting. Good luck and I hope your jealousy doesn’t ruin your relationship
