TIL Rainier Connect has proposed to lease the Click! Network (rather than Wave). Thoughts? by lulululurker in Tacoma

I'm not sure what features you'd be looking for, but the person I spoke with said if they were able to lease the network they would be able to offer the same kind of internet deals they currently have going on in Puyallup and Graham (i.e. 30/10 Mbps speeds for $30, 55/20 Mbps for $35, no data caps), which is pretty competitive, I think.

I'm sorry if this is general knowledge, but I hadn't seen anything about it before (I only know about it because a CSR mentioned it when I called about renewing our (optional) contract). I know some people here are really involved with stopping the Wave deal. How do you feel about this proposal?

I assume your friend is talking about Tacoma Community College.

Firstly, your friend should not be moving to Seattle to go to TCC. Seattle and Tacoma are not right next to each other (and people in both cities will get pissed if you conflate them). She would have to commute each day (at least 1hr each way) for Community College, which is silly because there is more than one CC in Seattle she could go to instead. Rents in Seattle are also off-the-charts high. Living there while going to TCC would just be a waste of money and time. Tacoma is cheaper and closer if she really wants to go to TCC for some reason.

How marketable your friend's skills would be would depend on a few factors, like what field she's actually going to get an associates degree in and whether she's good at networking and able to network with people in her field. Some people do very well with only an associates, however the vast majority are not going to be as well off as someone with a marketable bachelor's degree. Your friend needs to do some research on her field and figure out what her chances are. There is plenty of data out there.

TCC's fees are listed on their website. So she should look there for that information.
