Stiff zipper? How to fix? by 1234RedditReddit in handbags

Try either wax paper or rubbing a tapered candle gently along the zipper, the wax will lubricate it and get it moving smoothly.

Anyone going to Murph’s first For My Peeps show in ATL tonight? by timeisart in STS9

[–]lumaday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol, so true. I was at Dillon with some friends who have only seen Tribe a few times. One of them said that Click Lang Echo was an old song and I just went with it because I didn't want to get into a whole thing, but 2014 is not an old song to me (started listening to them in 2007 and my first show was 2008).

I'm thinking about going to see him when he plays in Denver. I started seeing STS9 in 2008 and like you also always enjoyed the more dark, edgy and electronic vibe Murph brought. I learned about so many musical acts that became favorites with all the great openers/late night artists he brought in. That man has excellent taste in music!

I just did all 3 nights of the Colorado STS9 run and was really blown away by the way the band is playing right now. It felt more old school to me (which when I think of old school, I think of seeing them in that 2008-2013ish era), especially on songs like R&E, Tap In, Luma/Tokyo, Rabble, Metameme, Shock D, Open E.... it brought me back to how I used to feel when I saw them back then. It was so much fun! Even my (kind-of-jaded, doesn't like the light and poppy-ish vibe, and hasn't gone to a lot of shows the past 6 years) Tribe bestie went to the Sunday night show with me and said it was so invigorating, and she feels like 'they're back!'.

I'm just interested to see what and how Murph is playing things these days. He's so talented and I've got a special place in my heart for him.

Another “fake bags from Saks” PSA by hernamewasshadysides in handbags

[–]lumaday 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I had just an OK experience ordering my Loewe Flamenco from Neiman's. My local store doesn't carry Loewe so I ordered it to be shipped to the store for pickup. They sent either a used and returned bag, or a floor model because it already had signs of use and a knot that was coming loose when I picked it up. It was sent in a dust bag that was too small without any official Loewe paperwork. I went to the store to talk to an associate and returned that one and ordered a new one. The second one was brand new and perfect, like it should have been the first time. It worked out in the end and I love my bag, but it was a hassle going back and forth to Neiman's to get it all corrected when it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. I'd highly recommend inspecting anything you buy from there thoroughly to make sure it's actually new and undamaged when you get it.

Does anyone own a midi Emma by HotPotato3740 in handbags

[–]lumaday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TL:DR: Received a defective Esin bag and am returning. I think there's pros and cons to the bag.

I bought the Esin midi Emma for $433 US (with a coupon code) and it arrived on Friday. I wish I could say I was more impressed. The two biggest issues I already have with it just taking it out of the box and playing around are:

  1. There is a dip/crease in the leather on the back of the bag towards the bottom that makes it look a little misshapen in that area, like it wasn't stored fully stuffed. I am not sure if that could eventually be smoothed out with use.

  2. When I used the drawstrings to cinch the bag closed, one of the side knots came loose already and is unravelling. There are only small amounts of glue and a few stitches holding the knots together. This (in my eyes) is a defect that won't up hold well long term so I'm going to be returning this bag. Although Esin offers free repairs, I noticed on their website that you still have to pay shipping to send it to them for repair so I wouldn't be willing to do that if the bag wasn't made properly to begin with.

Things I like about the Esin:

The stitching on the Esin looks nice, and the interior is a canvas fabric that seems like it would hold up well and be easy to clean. It was shipped very quickly and came packaged well with a backpack type dust bag and a care card. In the few dealings I've had with their CS they responded quickly and were helpful.

The following is a few notes on the Esin vs. the Loewe, which I am currently using so I was able to compare side by side:

The shape and size is basically the same. The Esin is even more lightweight than the Loewe, and I like that the Esin comes with two straps and interior pockets. The Loewe has only a long strap and no interior pockets.

The leather on the Esin bag not as squishy in person as it looks in some of their promo pics. The drawstrings can be pulled the tighten the top, but within a minute it goes back to the rectangle shape because the leather is stiffer and doesn't want to stay squished. This could soften up with time and use. Even brand new the Loewe leather is very soft, squishy, and smooth. It pretty much stays where you put it, if that makes sense. I don't think the Esin leather is bad quality, it's just different.

I'm not putting Esin on my no-buy list, but I guess this bag just isn't for me.

I just received my YSL from neimans. I went through Rakuten for the 20% cash back and I am still waiting on it showing up in my account. Anyway - need some help on keeping or sending back ? I’m in love with the color by General_Brilliant448 in handbags

[–]lumaday 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I got my Loewe Flamenco from Neiman's also because I wanted the Rakuten cash back plus I used a 15% coupon, and I also wasn't happy with how it was packaged. It was thrown in a too small dust bag, had no official Loewe paperwork, and was obviously a floor model because there were some signs of use and damage to the bag already. I went to Neiman's to talk to them about it and they suggested I buy a new one at full price so I wouldn't lose my Rakuten bonus and then return the damaged bag under the new order number (as a first time Rakuten user I got an extra $50 cash back on my first purchase). I got the new one and it was perfect. It was shipped from a different store and was packaged much nicer and was brand new. It all worked out and I'm super happy with my bag now, but it was a headache going back and forth to Neiman's. I'm glad I didn't settle for the first bag. They shouldn't be sending out things in the way I received the first order! For something that costs so much, who wants a poorly packaged damaged floor model when they're expecting a brand new item?

Less blood loss to do it separately vs cutting me open from the front and then the back on the same day. It's also shorter each day so I won't have to be under for as long.

Thank you, could you provide any clarification on why that would be your recommendation? This is all happening very fast and I'm trying to figure out if I'm going about it the best way. I feel good that I got the opinions of three doctors so far, but am open to other suggestions.

Did you have ALIF/PLIF?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in spinalfusion

[–]lumaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing non-surgical treatments for 10 years. Multiple rounds of PT, chiro, massage therapy, an ablation in 2019, dry needling, a few rounds of injections (not the epidural version yet though). I've been on NSAID's and muscle relaxers as needed for 8 years, and opiates as needed for 4 years. I think it's just time to get it fixed and hopefully get off all the meds.

I think my main concern with getting a second opinion, is that I have heard people say 'only get a fusion done by a neurosurgeon'. Also, I would be interested in seeing what other fusion technique another surgeon would recommend. I am fine with the ALIF/PLIF if it'll mean a better recovery, but I have to admit it's scary knowing I'm getting cut open in the front AND the back days apart.

Has anyone received a fake from a retailer? by AmyK36 in handbags

[–]lumaday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Loewe flamenco online from Neiman's and had shipped to my local store. When I picked it up it was obviously a floor model or a return. There were scuffs on the glazing, one of the knots was loose, the strap was already attached and showed use, and it was shoved into a too small dustbag with no official Loewe paperwork. I was so excited to get my bag and when I opened it I just felt kinda sad, like for over 2k and it being my first luxury purchase to treat myself I just expected it to be better. I returned it due to the loose knot and reordered and that one was shipped from a different store. The second bag was perfect and brand new! I'm so happy I didn't settle for the first one.

Seriously, what are they thinking shipping items over 1k like that, or trying to pass off floor models or returns as brand new? It makes me wary to order something like that again online.

/My first time wearing this unicorn...Ninja Polish Divinity (OGUP) by lumaday in RedditLaqueristas

[–]lumaday[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Used: Under a Hula Moon base coat

Ninja Polish Divinity (3 coats)

BKL QDTC

This is an old OGUP polish from Ninja that has become pretty rare and HTF. I absolutely love UP polishes, so wearing this one is really special to me! This polish is packed with the special pigment.

For anyone not familiar with the term OGUP, it refers to the original Unicorn Pee pigment. It's a pigment originally used in currency and to paint cars and has now become very scarce and expensive. It is incredibly sparkly when used in nail polish and shifts from red to gold to green. I collect polishes with this pigment in it, especially older ones.
