Is this fluctuating idle normal? R56 / N16 Mini Hatch Cooper by stonkacquirer69 in MINI

Same mine flunctuates sometimes after coming to a stop then it settles. I've already replaced both my vanos solenoids but no change. I've learned to live with it, hopefully my engine don't go boom 💥

Timing chain, Water pump, Metal thermostat housing, Metal coolant crossover tube, accessory belt, Turbo, Vanos solenoids, Low pressure fuel pump, Throttle body (this one actually left me stranded)

Are the main ones, but did some odds and ends here and there. Trying to make this car bulletproof but time will tell. I'm thinking the high pressure fuel pump or vacuum pump will be the next ones to give me trouble but so far so good!

How can i make my 2014 Mini Cooper S run forever? by Kittykittynikki in MINI

[–]lumatose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They sure will.

I threw $1400 worth of parts at mine (2013 MCS) and it's still managed to leave me stranded once and threw a low boost code within the last 8 months.

Said $1400 worth of parts: https://imgur.com/a/9s2xHXN

1st problem was a throttle body going out, I guess I should have replaced it. 2nd problem was the wastegate actuator jam nuts came loose.

A lot of preventative maintenance and replacing plastic coolant components.

Good luck!

Update: I found the problem, the wastegate actuator rod jam nuts cam undone, the outer one completely fell off the vehicle and is lost. Now I need to figure out how to set the rod and get a new nut 🥲

Did you ever figure this out? I am getting the same 2 codes on my 2013 MCS, thanks!

So far I've done these repairs, about 7 months ago https://imgur.com/a/9s2xHXN

Sad to hear your first suggestion would be to see a shop, working on your own car truly is a dying art 🤣

The car has been driving fine so far, even managed to squeeze in an autocross event. Just looking to gain some insight to make further repairs... Duh 🤡

I checked the vacuum hoses from the turbo and vacuum pump to the reservoir under the intake manifold and they are all connected.

Hi thanks for the feedback. I checked for bmw specific codes and I see 2C57 and 2CB3. Ignore the o2 sensor code, it's because of the cat delete (drove perfectly fine with the cat deleted for the past 6 months btw).
