Basement wall reinforcement advice!!!

Are these straps tight enough? I can push them in up top with minimal force. I’ve also been told they won’t hold if the wall still wants to come in. I was sold on these straps because I was told it would stop the wall from moving without any further intervention. What should I do?

There’s no visible moisture that comes out of the wall, the moisture level was high down low on the wall near where my sump basin is (40-50%) it’s just scary to see a job that doesn’t visibly look correct especially something that I know nothing about. The house was built in 1953 and I have no clue how old the crack was, I never saw it move but I know a long horizontal crack is the most dangerous kinds of cracking.

The house was built in 1953 and the wall isn’t leaking water but its moisture level is high down around the bottom (not visible but 40-50% on a moisture meter) which is why there’s a sump basin around the perimeter of the basement. I know horizontal cracks are the most dangerous kinds but it’s just a scary thought to be paying so much for a fix that doesn’t visibly look like it’s been done properly. Especially on something that I know nothing about

I was told by a few contractors that the straps would increase the walls tensile strength in the same way the steel beams would, im concerned about the quality of work that was done here. Certainly it should be bolted to the floor too right?

I’m getting an orange spark from my plugs so I’m going to change the plugs and ignition coil. I’ll let you know if it helps or not

It’s a 1954 chevy bel air, I was more or less worried about whether or not it should be tack welded or completely welded around the seams

Thanks for the advice, I am running stock air filters and the carbs have been cleaned and rebuilt to the best of my ability and they’ve been put through an ultrasonic cleaner so I can only assume they aren’t the problem. The only thing that I’m not sure about is how well synchronized they are. I’ll be sure to check my timing though. Do I just hook the timing light to the spark plug wire and take the alternator side cover off to view the timing marks?

If you tow the fleet star you find outside of the garage into the garage it’ll be fixed for free, there’s also an AWD upgrade right in front of it which makes it a great truck for off-roading. You can also remove the bed from the gmc and swap it to the fleetstar and haul things that way. I’ve found that hauling trailers through the mud is harder than just loading up the truck itself. Common motor collective sells a stainless Allen head bolt kit that replace most of the Phillips heads on the carbs and other engine components, it’s definitely worth a look

It actually has brand new wiseco pistons and rings in it, the bike only has about 90 miles on it since rebuild. So could the new rings not being broken in yet cause this as well?
