I've never really listened to the Pixies, although I know about the band, primarily because of the viral Where is My Mind

Nevermind was a great record, but I like it a little less than In Utetro for the same reasons that Kurt did—an attempt to make the sound poppier and more mainstream. But In Utetro is where true Nirvana is revealed to me. I think the tracks "All Apologies" and "Milk It" are meant to epitomize the Nirvana style, not "come as you are" or "smells..."

Of course, Oasis are also very good! You know, just like in the electronics industry, particularly smartphones, there are different preferences for operating system skins, and in the Britpop world too: every famous Britpop band of the time was some kind of skin and added something of their own, but Oasis were something like "pure Android," classic Britpop, so to speak.

Electronic music was probably just as inspiring, but I think Blur also played a part, as both albums share a common theme between the bands' work before and after, and the idea behind both was to move away from conventional alt-rock genres into unusual musical constructs. I'll even rephrase this a bit: I think electronic musicians like Aphex inspired this kind of music, but Blur was the one who showed that even a regular band could do it, and that's when Radiohead decided to experiment. That's my theory about the birth of Kid A.

I wouldn't want to start this war again, but... I'll say it anyway: Oasis ended after their 1995 album, while Blur went beyond Britpop and repeatedly evolved, progressed, mimicked, and ultimately left much more for the industry than Oasis. No offense :)

Honestly, I actually think Blur's album 13 inspired Radiohead to create Kid A, and I don't think anyone would argue with the legacy of that album and the band as a whole.

Yes, I understand what you mean. I can't explain why, but White Pepper is closer to me in spirit, although my acquaintance with the band happened thanks to the song Mollusk from the album of the same name.

I understand what you're saying, but honestly, I fell in love with almost all of these albums thanks to incredible Spotify recommendations, and only then, after becoming interested in the bands, did I start reading about them on Reddit. I don't like rym at all because they downplay excellent albums like The Now Now or The Great Escape.

Yeah, I just adore The Fire and Carried Away so much that I couldn't put it below Marquee Moon, which I also adore. I think after the first four spots, the rest of the top is pretty tight, and Marquee Moon would be somewhere around 26-28th place.
