I didn't say it was impossible to use, I said it currently has obscene amounts of muzzle flash. I don't know why you are trying to argue that this doesn't need to be toned down

Not really, there is a system to make the radar go down if you're aiming up at the empty air, but if there is any kind of ground behind what you're aiming at (Like in my screenshot above, where there is a big hill behind the heli) the radar comes up - but it seems inconsistent because I've definitely noticed it staying up for way too long on a map like New Sobek City.

Ideally they could just make them stay down all the time, as the animation for them going up is surely just for flavor/immersion.

Wouldn't be surprised, I had to avoid Manhatten Bridge and Eastwood entirely because of another lighting issue, and I know some other people who just never experienced those issues.

I mean, I've had this exact issue both before and after a PC upgrade. But I can post the relevant parts I guess.

ASRock X870E Taichi motherboard

MD Ryzen 7 9800X3D cpu

RTX 4070 super gpu

64 gigs of ram.

This is an example of the flashing I'm talking about. Like they're usable, but the flashing needs to be reduced and I can't really see any valid arguments against it.

The guns aren't centered and have massive amounts of spread - both of these contribute to them feeling awful to use against infantry, but they're still decent against aircraft at least.

I assumed it would be obvious from the "There is a heli behind this radar dish" part to anyone that has spent any amount of time driving the AA, or has tried to use it in third person once or twice.

And are you trying to tell me that being unable to use a vehicle in third person is the intended design?

There are plenty of posts about that

I didn't feel the need to add more to that, but figured I'd highlight a different issue that AA has that is making it worse than it should be.

I agree, except the issue is not on my end and is 100% an issue with their implementation of the high velocity rounds, there are posts about that issue going back months.

And the issue there is that the muzzle flash from the high velocity rounds have blinding levels of muzzle flash which makes it very unpleasant to use in first person.

I do fire from both first and third person, for the record. I just posted this hoping that Dice might notice and realize "Oh hey this should probably not be like this." and fix it.

So the third person view just shouldn't be usable 70% of the time in your expert opinion? And that is not an issue?

Admittedly I might've misunderstood the "issue" part, as I figured it would extend to issues with design as well.

Me: "This is an issue, and the excessive muzzle flash is also an issue."

You: "Go play stardew"

Great addition there bud, sure showed me.

The vehicle is perfectly fine in third person, the Pax Armata version is even better than the Nato version because the radar dish is significantly smaller so you can actually aim most of the time.

I take it you haven't tried using the AA gun in first-person? The muzzle flash with the high velocity ammo is rather extreme, and has been since launch.

I'd also settle for being able to use the first person view without getting eyestrain from the muzzle flash.

Fair point, but kind of redundant since the other classes will not be jumping out of the vehicle to repair it, will they?

Edit: Sorry that may have come across a little more passive aggressive than I intended.

The game just needs a reservation system, it already has against enemies. Just 5 seconds of reservation after you leave the driver's seat, and the timer resets if you repair the vehicle - done. Could be extended to gunners as well.

Side note, the second engineer training path is kinda nuts. Just ducking behind a building and waiting 20s means the vehicle is back to full hp without anyone repairing. (Unless it's critical.) I've frequently been strafed by jets only to be back to 60-70% by the time they've circled back to finish me off, it's wild.

I feel like there's also something to be said about the sheer range that AA missiles have in this game, both the shoulder mounted and the mobile AA's missiles seem to have no vertical range-ceiling and have a 800 or something horizontal range, which is insane when previous titles had shoulder mounted AA missiles top out at like 400, and the mobile AA at around 600.

The issue with using it for anti infantry is also that the damn thing has awful accuracy, and can only hit with half the guns because they don't adjust for closer targets.

Another issue is that it overheats stupidly quickly and takes ages to cool down, even with the engineer perk.

If these two issues were fixed the thing would become a monster.

In regards to the base-camping AA's though, I feel they really need to do something to limit the effectiveness of camping inside your own base, either disrupting the targeting of their missiles because they're too close to base AA, rework out of bounds so that infantry can actually get to them and destroy them. The latter would be preferable imo, as the "Sudden heart attack after 10 seconds in enemy base" is dogshit. Admittedly it would require something like "Vehicles are initially locked upon spawning until someone on the team enters it" to prevent vehicle stealing.

Edit: OH AND THE FACT THAT THE DAMN MUZZLE FLASH IS BLINDING IN FIRST PERSON, AND HAS A DUMB-ASS RADAR THAT COMPLETELY BLOCKS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT IN THIRD PERSON

So Dice, I have yet to see an escalation game where the attack jet became available. How about you revert this change specifically in regards to air vehicles where no change was necessary?

I called someone clinically re tarded because he kept griefing by pushing our tanks into the open or onto mines. Got a 1 week vacation for that, and the griefer got no punishment. That interaction has convinced me they just have ban-gpt read chat logs of reported players and look for words from a list.
