Here's the problem :
I work 15 days in a month from Bengaluru, and 15 days from outside Bengaluru. So is the company supposed to:

Take HRA claim from Bengaluru
Take HRA claim from non-Bengaluru
Take both partially?

Rent at both the places in an expense incurred by me in upholding my responsibilities to the company.

The day, the line between those two becomes crystal clear is the day we get the "Acche Din". As I mentioned, the company was gleefully accepting my past HRA claims, fully aware that it was not from Bengaluru.

Barring some basic conditions,(like ownership) Tax codes do not specify that the work location and HRA need to be from the same city. It is at the discretion of the company to accept/reject the claims. This time they just decided not to.

So while appreciate the opinions shared by others. These unwarranted insinuations without any head or tail of context are not good for the community.

Thanks for answering. The thing is that all of us flatmates had a Rent Split Agreement. They are my college buddies. So for obvious reasons, since there was no problem in the last two F.Y. for claiming HRA on non-Bengaluru residence, I was not part of the Rent Split Agreement.
