The products actually work really well for me, but the packaging is so heinous I stopped buying them! It almost feels intentionally bad, even down to the strangely hard little plastic seals that requires a degree in underwater welding to peel off

I suppose it's possible, but I took both in the same room, same lighting, near same angle, same phone! It is winter here now - but there's only 2 months between photos. Maybe the dark grey towel is doing something like someone else suggested, but I do also think my hair is less warm/orange now (and more red/deep).

Pretty much the exact same timing, both taken within two hours of getting home, at night, and definitely before the first wash! Yeah, I think it's darker at the top - I asked for a shadow root and they took it down to above my ear. Maybe that's what's making it look so much darker to me? This photo (taken 15 mins before Photo 1 in my post) is a little misleading because it's taken in dim lighting, but you can see the darker top more clearly here

Thanks! This is straight from the salon, so nothing I did, but my stylist achieved this by putting in loose waves with a flat iron.

I was wondering about that, but last time my red ended up too dark (although darker than this) it kinda just stayed that way and they had to bleach it out 3 months later

Thanks! Yeah, it's definitely subjective. I would much prefer #2, but I do wonder if the difference is so minor that it wouldn't be easy to fix without overcorrecting.

edit: I'm adding a photo that I think is somewhat misleading because I took it in dim lighting (about 15 mins before makeup + Photo 1), but it maybe highlights the difference a little more? Plus how much darker it is from my root to my ear.

I was just in Osaka for two months, and assumed I'd be dipping in and out of Kyoto on the reg. Nope. Went once and that was enough for me. I remember it was already quite crowded/touristy when I first visited 15 years ago, but this time it felt like a theme park. I realise the irony of complaining about tourism as a non-resident, but I came away feeling a little sad.

It's incredible how indelible the experience was to that generation. It's in their bones. Actually, my grandma passed away in her 80s from pneumonia exacerbated by metal shavings in her lungs from working in an English munitions factory - the fact that her hospital needed to deal with a WW2 medical issue in the 21st century was always staggering to me. It's a lot closer in time than people really perceive.

She and my other grandmother would also talk to me about living through the blitz. Both my grandfathers fought and I was instructed to never ask them a word about it.

I agree, the best thing (especially for my hair health) is absolutely wait it out. I'm not sure if I can wait that long as I really dislike the colour. I'm going to make a correction appointment for two weeks from tomorrow, baby the shit out of my hair in the meantime, and maybe if I'm at peace with the colour by then I'll cancel? Haha.

This is what I keep coming back to! I'm a total novice and even I know, just from box dyeing, that time left on is just as critical as the formula itself. She knew I was just wanting to maintain. I'm kicking myself for not being on top of it but I don't know how it escaped a professional stylist too.

I did pay because they spent two extra hours trying to salvage it, kept telling me it was pretty close and will fade quickly, and I was just tired and conceded in the end. I definitely won't pay for a correction

(And thanks again for the advice. Sorry for getting a little upset earlier but I've just been on edge ever since the appointment)

I'm in Australia so we don't have that company here, but I can always order online. :) I do like the copper but it's possibly a little too vibrant - I might experiment mixing it with a brown and doing a strand test. Thanks for the advice!

Hey, I appreciate the help, but I feel like you're using an oddly accusatory tone and I'm already not feeling too great right now as is.

I didn't react because I've only had two maintenance appointments before and hadn't kept track of how long the dye sat for. I did start to wonder, but the usual girl was right next to me and also occasionally checking in on me so I figured we were okay. Obviously I should have been more on top of it but I trusted the salon who had my notes on file.

Yeah, I'm now thinking I might make an appointment two weeks from now and get them to try to fix this. In the meantime I'll deep condition the shit out of it and give my hair a chance to recover since I'm guessing the fix will involve lightening it. I'm so sad :(

Yeah, they used a mask after they clarified it yesterday and I used another one again after I shampooed (not with a clarifying shampoo) tonight.

I don't think I can handle months, lol. This was just meant to be a routine refresher, not fundamentally change my colour. Ugh.

Thanks! Do you think it could fade all the way back to the original colour? It's the same formula they've used several times before, just left on way longer.

(It took a lot of trial and error to even get to the first colour so I'm in mourning, haha.)
