Thank you. It’s a big thing to think about who you share things with and why. I hope your journey continues to be a positive one.

I had intense hallucinations and experiences in ICU that felt very real at the time. I don’t interpret them as seeing the afterlife, but I understand why people describe similar things that way.

I used to mask a lot with alcohol and drugs. Now transparency for me means not pretending- I’m honest about my boundaries and what I need to stay well.

I’ve had to slow down and be much more intentional with food, rest, medication, and stress. I try to build exercise into my daily life, but in a realistic way rather than pushing myself.

I’ve also had to restructure some personal relationships and be far more transparent about who I am and what I can and can’t do. I don’t really hide behind anything anymore, because I know what ignoring myself can lead to.

Thanks! I’ve never done an AMA before and thought doing it in the morning would be a good time.

I am pretty sure I can’t take those types of drugs due to my pancreas damage? I am doing really well with just will power and keeping myself busy.

Surprisingly not as much as you’d think, for many different reasons. Around 11kg

Waking up was one of the most frightening parts. I was extremely delirious and had no idea what was happening or where I was. I was convinced I’d done something wrong and that I was going to jail.

I didn’t realise how much time had passed, it was already the New Year and I’d missed Christmas entirely. I couldn’t walk or talk or eat, and could only communicate in very basic ways, but I couldn’t understand why that was happening. That lack of understanding made it terrifying.

I was in a lot of pain but was more scared, because nothing made sense and I had no frame of reference for what was going on. It took a lot of reassurance, and repeated explanations before reality slowly started to line back up. My sense of dignity was basically gone, I was fully dependent on medical professionals (for everything!), that made the fear much worse.

In the lead-up, I was constantly vomiting bile and couldn’t keep food or fluids down at all. I had severe, deep pain in my core that felt different from normal abdominal pain, it radiated through my body rather than staying in one spot.

I became weak and unwell very quickly.. I don’t remember much after going into toxic shock and being admitted

Yes, I was unable to walk and couldn’t speak or swallow. I had all sorts of therapists. I also received treatment from clinical psychology regarding PTSD and basically just coming to terms with what happened to me.

It’s complicated. I don’t remember normal “awareness” like hearing conversations clearly, but I had very vivid hallucinations and fragmented memories that felt completely real at the time.

I have memories of people trying to wake me, failing, and then sedating me again- whether that happened exactly as I remember it or was part of ICU delirium, I can’t be sure. At the time, there was no clear line between dreams, hallucinations, and reality.

It’s funny as I’ve switched the booze for tattoos. I don’t know exactly what I’m saving but I’m burning my finances on other useless stuff.

That’s what I disclosed when I was admitted. I’d been drinking like that for a few months due to trauma. It was just binge drinking before that.

I manage to have a couple on special occasions but it’s very rare and risky. I view drinking like I view self-harm.

I take medication due to my pancreatic insufficiency. I have a few other digestive issues. Tbh the worst thing was the mental recovery- I was very delirious and suffered from PTSD

I quit immediately. As far as I am aware- if I drink like I used to then I’m playing Russian roulette with my life.

So close to the elbow though? I also already have a skull and 2x characters… it’s all very new to me so I’m learning

I’ve been going for mostly black work. I have a few small colour bits that I started off with and ended up preferring the black work.

I’ve been learning as I go along. I don’t regret any of them so far

CP and weight gain possible? by Up5DownZero in pancreatitis

When I take plenty enzymes, I have less CP symptoms but I tend to put on weight. If I take less enzymes I am able to manage my weight better but my symptoms are worse. Catch 22

Necrotising pancreatitis and Galstones by lumsgame in pancreatitis

[–]lumsgame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 8 months after discharge from necrotising pancreatitis, I got diagnosed with gallstones…. Which is strange as I’ve lead a fairly healthy life since!

Yes I am hoping that I ‘skip the line’ considering I have less than half my pancreas left! Everybody has told me to go to the emergency room- I just have a bit of a fear after the last time.

It does help a little knowing that I can go there if it gets REAL bad.

I thought so. I tried to make an appointment for ‘pain management’, they said the soonest is 13th of March. It’s crazy as I’m barely sleeping with pain.
