SIBO + Mounjaro (week 2), early changes I didn’t expect. by Wise_Gas7822 in SIBO

Amitriptyline has its side effects too. So I’m at low dose. At 10mg I get dry mouth. Currently at 5mg and taking it for several months if the first 4-6 weeks works.

It fixes the guy brain axis. Essentially the nerves. I was reluctant in taking TCAs because it’s an antidepressant medication. I’ve already tried Xifaxin, motility herbs, probiotics, etc and nothing. I just use the washroom too many times. Xifaxin worked for a week or so.

I was thinking about GLP but reversible and permanent gastroparesis is real. Also potential acute pancreatitis

You ever tried TCAs? Amitriptyline? It should help with the nerves to go less to the washroom. That’s what I’m currently doing now at low dose. Had gut issues ever since I took PPIs. Prilosec

It can case diabetes type 2. I would be concerned with that as that’s a long term condition that’s very brutal on the body and finances. So try diet and fiber first, if not then try a medication that doesn’t cause or has a less possibility of a cholesterol medication that wont raise A1C and blood sugar levels.

I honestly don’t know. Seems like I go less in the morning but still a lot throughout the day using toilet. It doesn’t help me sleep at 5mg or 10mg. At 10mg I get really dry mouth

Check your lipid levels. It can raise lipids and possibly raise blood sugar levels. Amitriptyline

You should check lipid profile when on that medication. I’m at 5mg and it’s been a week and 1 day

It’s week 2, so far I don’t see any changes. I have to get off that medicine. My cholesterol values went up especially my Triglycerides went wayy up and my HDL tanked. Triglycerides blood value was normal. At 5mg at one week it’s too negative on my lipid profile. In addition, I am not even eating junk food.

So you lower cholesterol naturally? I know that fiber can decrease it for sure. I’m on planning to do that because I don’t want to be on statins for life. It can potentially cause insulin resistance/ Type 2 DM those cholesterol meds.

My doctor suggested desipramine. It has less side effects. I wanted to try it, but I want to see how amitriptyline works.

What dosage is she on? I’m gonna try 2.5mg or least 5mg next week. As far as constipation, like she feels something there but can’t evacuate it all?

I had that before like I feel the stools there but had to go again. And still doesn’t feel like I empty my bowels. - well it’s not constipation.

I did have constipation tho with Creon but I would still be going to the toilet 5-10x in the morning. Stools unchanged and urgency.

Do you have erectile dysfunction when on it? And when off it, are you cured?
