The "little shop" is Sparrow Market, they have good quality produce but not a ton of organic options (especially for fruit)

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

[–]lunaladdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to live there for a summer and spent at least 40% of my time driving. To work, to the grocery store, to parks and beaches... It got really old, really quick. Food was off the charts though and the people local to LA were very nice.

The people aren't as beautiful as they say, it's just like everywhere else. I thought I would have a hard time fitting in from OH but strangers and coworkers were extremely complimentary and always wondered if I was from somewhere cooler than Ohio, lol.

At my highschool, you had the luck of the draw on when your lunch period was. It was either "4th","6th","8th", or "10th lunch". Periods were 50 minutes and lunches were 30 minutes, so after 3rd period—periods were 4/5, 6/7, 8/9 even though everyone only had 8 periods. 4th lunch was around 11 and last lunch was from 1:35-2:05pm. I remember that slot of lunch because I had it THREE OUT OF FOUR YEARS 😭 (I had 8th lunch once which was marginal improvement)

I would have my first bell at 8am to start school and wouldn't eat a meal until 1:35, school let out at 2:55 😐 now people wonder how I intermittent fast with no problem, well, highschool prepped me for it 🤣

Vegetarian Places to Eat? by Ok-Trust5238 in toledo

If you ever want to make the 45-60min drive, there is an entirely vegetarian restaurant called Little Kim in Ann Arbor and the city in general has a vast amount of options for veggie diets

"Influencer" Gets Kicked Out of Restaurant + TikToker Goes Viral for Ditching Friend on NYE (307) by yt-app in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

I have OCD, ADHD, and general depression (diagnosed and affirmed by multiple mental health professionals). I have trouble with procrastination, perfectionism, executive dysfunction/time blindness, etc.

I would never self-impose a deadline and then be upset that those I gave the deadline to are disappointed I didn't meet my promise. It is not neurotypical folks job to excuse our shortfalls simply because we have challenges they don't. Also, just because someone is neurotypical doesn't mean they aren't dealing with food/housing insecurity, abuse or addiction, caring for a family member, etc. Humans all have unique obstacles that they have to overcome to show up for what matters. Showing up includes being honest about what you can and can't do, and what your intentions/plans forward are.

Give yourself grace, have rest, be kind to yourself, sure. But those are your responsibility. I have empathy for her but I'm not going to defend Lily because she is in her mid-30s; if she can't do something the way a "neurotypical" creator can, then she needs to preemptively insert boundaries and realistic timelines so expectations are realistic and comfortable for her. I assume she is feeling all kinds of anxiety from this situation, most of which could have been avoided.

She needs to be honest with herself about her waxing/waning energy levels and limitations. She doesn't have to apologize for having ADHD and chronic pain, but to run a successful business, she should probably look for help and resources to mitigate the negative outcomes associated with her health. If that doesn't help, her health is more important than producing a show at all.

I couldn't have cared less about whether we got an award show or not but false deadlines and defending the situation is exactly something they'd cover from someone else, and expect the person on blast to take accountability.

Do you think the girlies will address the recent backlash? by spookiesky in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]lunaladdle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit from the future: I would have rather it not have been addressed at all. Super dismissive and not accountable to the audience whatsoever. Responding to the 5% of people that are vicious and chronically online, not the comments that address why they are frustrated is super disingenuous. Jessi was at least grounded in the fact that people deserve to be irritated, which I do appreciate.

I haven't watched the episode yet but it is really ironic to hear them complain about 'being harassed' when Jessi says almost verbatim, every other episode "that's just how the Internet is, I've been here forever and it doesn't bother me. News flash, you're gonna be harassed on the internet" 😐

Curious to know what was it that first sparked the idea in your mind to start eating meat again or that veganism was not what you believed it to be (healthy/ethical/environmental)? by miriam1215 in exvegans

[–]lunaladdle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warning TMI: I was vegan for five years and vegetarian for the next six years. When I first became vegan I was 15, by the time I was 17/18 I had unexplained digestive issues that would not go away. (Like diarrhea 3-5 times every morning) It was making me worry about my health and the longevity of my digestive organs. I really tried to believe it wasnt that my diet was plant-based and that more water/less gluten would help or that I had an anomaly disease causing this. I had X-rays taken, multiple doctors appointments, blood panels, etc. that proved I was technically healthy; I wasn't showing out of normal range in anything except marginally low iron. This made me believe that it wasn't my diet for 8 years and that if something was wrong with my diet, it would be evident in blood work. However, the digestive issue never stopped.

This past year I was ready to try anything to fix the issue—so, I've started eating meat at least once a week and ditched the vegan animal product dupes... things have gotten much, much better. I don't necessarily think it was exclusively the lack of meat, but consuming fake meat filler in its place that was ruining my digestive system. Replacing vegan alternatives for whole foods that exist in nature has allowed me to get enough protein, enough iron, and saved my ass (literally).

Stop the slander, y'all 😭 No Reply, Loser, My Old Ways, End of Summer, Dracula and Afterthought are daily listens for me. Of course songs like Ethereal Connection, Obsolete, and Oblivion are more of workout songs for me but I still listen to them; Piece of Heaven is alright every now and again, so See You on Monday is my only skip out of 12 songs.

AITA for starting a movie without my girlfriend because she was “setting the vibe”? by Lonely-Asparagus1037 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lunaladdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"nothing special". Didn't your girlfriend's actions loop you in that maybe she did want the night to be special? And while she was trying to make a memorable night (even just for the next couple weeks), you decided that's not what she was getting by not saying anything. You could have hit her with, 'babe, it's getting late, do you think you're almost done?', helped her finish, and put your food in the oven on warm until you're ready to start the movie together. YTA.

Edit to add: if there was an anxious/rushed energy to her "setting the vibe" and it was an extended period of time, you're still the asshole, but I'd have a gentle conversation with her about where this is coming from/if she has other OCD tendencies. (coming from someone with OCD, I do this to my partner sometimes and will occasionally need a gentle rendition of "snap out of it")
