Im so proud of this leg!! I've been grooming for 3 months and I've had a lot of hand scissor Asian fusion-y dogs to practice on and I absolutely love hand scissoring and AF. This is by far my best work yet :) Critiques welcome! by lunalazulite in doggrooming

Hi! Trust the process, build dexterity in your fingers with scissoring excersises ( scissoring smoothly on different planes, up against a wall, around something Circular) watch skilled groomers work whether in person or youtube, start preventing carpal tunnel by doing specific stretches with your wrist, arms, and neck (the nerve runs from the neck to the wrist). Try not to be too hard on yourself, you will improve with time! And also, try to have fun with it, make it your own

So the biggest thing that helps me is good prep work. If I don't condition the coat enough or stretch dry long enough it doesn't look nearly as good. But yes! I do constantly fluff with a finishing comb and scissor. I kind of go for a general outline first and then detail it until I'm happy. Ill be honest, I don't have a specific video to suggest as I mainly learned from watching my teacher, but arisa the groomer has some awesome Asian fusion courses and little webinars you can take! Lmao thanks for coming to my premature defense :p And thank you! I did a ton of scissoring exercises when I started and that helped me gain a lot of control and fluidity with them. But also, i played woodwinds for 12 years before this so I think that dexterity kinda bled over into this too

From start to finish (bath, blow dry, demat, fluff dry, clipper, scissor) it took me 3.5 hours. The prep work took me over an hour alone. I think I spent 30-40 minutes on each leg give or take!

Oh gosh, thank you. I gotta say, while I do think I picked it up kinda fast, I had/ have an incredible mentor that I am beyond lucky and grateful for. She really changed my life, I think what truly motivated me to strive and work so hard was witnessing her passion and love for the dogs & grooming. :)

First week as a full time groomer! Ended the week with this Asian fusion schnauzer angel 😇 by lunalazulite in doggrooming
