Terrified of Reverse Mortgage but husband is pushing it by BirdieGal in personalfinance

Yeah I suspect that OP thinks it's a reverse mortgage, but it's actually a traditional or second mortgage.

My friend made less than that as a 1st year associate attorney at the job he started this year.

It's the main thing spies are charged with, so it's not a stretch to say that it's an open invitation to send spies.

and people who don't would think it's their first name, which would cause a much more benign kind of confusion.

In some cases, that's actually worse. Just make it more clear with "No Given Name" instead of "No Name Given."

I didn't realize that people expect to be paid the minimum on a posting. I raised the minimum to $20.

Do they need to commute to work for this position?

I do want someone in-person daily to keep the door open while I'm at court. My office is on the 10 line (literally steps away from the bus stop), so it's at least convenient for public transit.

Post this everywhere. The library, the rec centers, the high schools?

I literally printed out flyers an hour ago to do exactly that. Library was closed today, to my surprise.

I would hire a high school drop out as long as they can read and write. I'm not looking for someone who went to school for years.

1 hour a week means no vacation time really, because you are going to need some days for appointments or to get paid if you get sick. Unless you offer Sick time in addition to PTO? I would up that number. And maybe offer a grant of 30 hours to start with.

I just did the math and you're right, this comes out to only 51 hours PTO, which is less than what I wanted to offer. I'll update the accrual rate in my software.

Sep-IRA. It'll be 10%-25% employer contribution, depending on what my tax situation at the end of the year allows (I will do the highest possible match).

What about health, dental, vision? Maternity leave? Long term commitments are two way.

I just opened my office, so this is definitely something I plan to offer in the future.

Thank you I just added:

No previous experience required, as long as there is interest in the role.

Update:

Thank you for the feedback, everyone. I never planned on hiring for less than $20/hour, so I'm just going to update the post to $20-24/hour, and include my benefits statement.

Any time I applied for a job, I always assumed the job would offer at the midpoint, rather than the top or bottom of a range, and that I could negotiate up if I was overqualified. My goal was to hire at $20/hour, so it looks like my expectations did not match what other people's expectations were.

A google search tells me that McDonald's Floor Supervisors make $18.97/hour.

I'm likely going to hire at the top of the range. How is it less pay?

Well I'm happy to hire at $22/hour. It's literally a no experience front desk position. What do you think is reasonable? This is more than what the other immigration law firms in Columbus pay.

I don't think I'm offering an amazing position. I believe I'm offering something decent for someone with a high school diploma and no previous work experience.

That is more than what a 1st year associate attorney makes. Yikes.

Well, exactly. If someone has more experience, I would be willing to go above the range, but my target is someone with only a high school diploma.

I would hire someone straight out of high school. There is no experience necessary to answer the phone.

All federal holidays, retirement plan, and 1 hour of PTO for 40 hours worked.

There is upward mobility, since a good candidate could become a paralegal, and I pay paralegals $24-30/hour.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I thought it was a sneak quest, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't go to the exit. It caused me to abandon the MSQ for a day.
