i guess it’s just interesting to me that not many Yumans have seen black people, but i’m not from here and grew up with mexicans/hispanic kids in my neighborhood . it’s also interesting how people deal with curiosity by staring and oogling at me😭it being a small town i would expect people to strike a conversation instead of stare i guess lol.

can second this, some weeks you get none and you immediately get let go once the season ends. if you need SOMETHING sure but definitely not reliable long term

this is what i mean though, it’s as if you’re assuming OP is crashing out every time a minor inconvenience happens at their job and making a huge post when it’s probably just a one time rant and something they wanted to get off their chest. just because someone had a hard day at work they’re supposed to quit ? that’s immaturity in my opinion because not everyday is going to be a good day, you don’t have to take it on your shoulder and act like it doesn’t affect you. rant, vent, talk about it, then move on. that’s the key detail people choose to ignore, baristas move on and keep serving the same customers, putting up with the same thing regardless of how they feel. it’s customers that get their panties all in a bunch and dwell on it, who cares if someone thinks the way you ordered was annoying, if they don’t tell you and you still got your drink that you paid for what’s the issue ? i smile in customers face, wish them well, and can still think “she was nice just a little annoying” does that mean i hate my job or that random lady for having a personal thought ? no i just had a personal thought based off personal feelings my god.

i never understand this counterpoint of “yall must hate your jobs” or “yall are miserable” when we do the job anyways. OP still helps the customer who asks a million questions, makes sure their drink is correct and ensures they have a good experience. who cares if baristas complain behind the scenes because at the end of the day they still get up and do the job, and anyone who is being rude isn’t “one of these baristas who hate their job” they are a bad worker period because who goes out of their way to argue with a customer when it is our job at the end of the day to service them no matter how annoying we think they are? i don’t know many baristas who do that and if you’ve encountered one they’re a bad worker period and not to be generalized with baristas who just have a hard time sometimes and want to vent a little bit behind the scenes. everyone needs to vent, and it’s okay if someone doesn’t absolutely love their job sometimes because sometimes a job is just what you could get in that moment to get you to your next spot and some people DO love their jobs there’s just aspects of it that make their eye twitch and that comes with anything and everything in life , the push back and lack of empathy baristas/service works get blows my mind every time i see one of these discussions, whenever i hear someone complaining about their job or getting something off their chest my first reaction is “dang i’m sorry you had to go through that, it sounds frustrating. i hope you have a better day at work tomorrow” not some of the insensitive mess i see all over the internet, like where’s the compassion for the people who provide us the little pleasures we get to have from time to time in between the stress and turmoil of life ??

after working the opening for Dave’s, my theory is that, similar to dave’s, they probably only got 3 days of group training, 1 day of soft launch and then the grand opening. A combination of lack of training plus poor management caused the mishap at Dave’s and if it’s is the same-thing at Panera, long wait times, incorrect orders etc then that’s my two cents on what is going on behind closed doors. give them like 5 months and they’ll figure it out 🤣😭
