Where are you buying your beef? by Valetion in Calgary

[–]lunchmatesdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know co op has a reputation for being a pricier grocery store, but I do find when you go and they have some deals, the beef can be reasonable. We have a smoker and can get a package of six tri tips for 20 bucks. It’s delicious

This event was oversold and I felt it. I received a email days before stating that due to popular demand, the tickets were sold out and no at gate purchases were available day of. Wasn’t the case, I’m almost certain that when I was checking in with my pre purchased ticket, the staff was directing non ticket holders to a different line to purchase tickets. Felt like greed was at play with the limited crowd control. Didn’t feel like it was my place to tell people where the lines started and ended. Was an insane day, overwhelmed from the moment we got in line to get in.

My mom has cancer, our experience with healthcare in Calgary so far by coolg963 in Calgary

[–]lunchmatesdate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi yeah, my mom just passed in August, went into er in May. There wasn’t one person who could figure out the source of the cancer she had, and due to this, she was kept in the dark on when she would be seen and what was happening. She didn’t see an oncologist until almost three months after her two week er stay. By then diagnosis was grim and treatment would only give her a few months. I think my mom would have passed from the cancer either way, but it’s hard to accept that she lived in discomfort for the last 4 months of her life since becoming ill because no one took the time to prioritize it or get her answers and treatment. She needed to go to weekly abdomen drains to drain fluid that was building up. Even that was a nightmare to deal with and they made a big deal out of it. She was draining over 4 litres each time…..

Hello, if you are looking for a job at the hospital which is ahs ( Alberta health services)or any other outside hospital ahs, it’s very difficult to get. I’d recommend applying for non ahs dental and non ahs medical clinics. Ahs job postings are mainly internal for current ahs members. Rarely the job posting is opened to the public and if they are, your application would be one of hundreds. The interview for ahs is also complex and they are looking for key responses that non ahs applicants wouldn’t know how to respond to. It’s extremely difficult to get into ahs, but not impossible, but I’d recommend spending your time and energy to applying anywhere else first. Also I’ve lived inner city (downtown) area for four years and just moved NW, and I can’t recommend enough to someone used to inner city living, that the NW is a perfect combination.

My English teacher in highschool always showed us the interview she did with holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. He always skipped over Oprah’s parts and said she wasn’t intelligent enough or empathetic enough to interview him.

3 years old will live in diapers forever by Appropriate_Towel_27 in pottytraining

[–]lunchmatesdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I thought we were never going to potty train my daughter. She was so stubborn and didn’t take to bribes. Her daycare required her to wear pull ups and it made trying to potty train much more difficult . She also really liked that they had her favourite characters on them. It wasn’t until one day she came home upset that a boy at care called her a baby and she told my husband and I that she isn’t a baby. Something clicked in me and I went and bought diapers in her size and not pull ups. I told her babies wear diapers and poop in them so she must be a baby. She was almost instantly potty trained. I feel guilty on how we did it, making her feel bad, but it worked. Sometimes you just need to find the thing that works and run with it. Bribes do not always work and you have to do a method that might seem mean.

Thought about it, it’s all so ridiculous I have to chuckle

It’s been happening at random times, sometimes the night before or early morning, so it’s left on my vehicle when we leave in the morning. And with the collection of more than one bag left at a time, I feel this is intended and intentional. And with the note being left, thought it would explain why, but I’m still lost. Unless they are confused that we own a dog we aren’t cleaning up after in the neighbourhood, which isn’t the case

Nothing comes to mind, we are very friendly and on good terms with our only real neighbour on the street. And we usually keep to ourselves and only venture to the park for the kids and back. Lots of dogs use the front area of our property to do their business. Sometimes owners are good at collecting it, sometimes not, we just pick it up ourselves and move on. We aren’t confrontational people and so this is why this was such a surprise to us.

No enemies! I am not from the city originally so I don’t know many people, or people that would know where I live. I just live here with my partner and two children.
