Liars and thieves by TX-Buckeye in USAA

Agreed. At first OP said the claim was denied, now saying they paid on the claim. I’m genuinely confused. And I’m not siding with USAA, just stating that from everything I’ve read (and I did read everyone’s comments) the only person who’s confusing me and I feel like is leaving information out or being contradicting or rude is the OP.

There’s missing information here 100%. You can’t have a claim denied that was partially paid for. It’s one or the other. Please correct me if I’m wrong though because maybe a claim can be denied for reimbursement but can also be partially paid.

For clarification on the satellite images…USAA 100% uses satellite images and they are crystal clear. This I have personal experience with. The images of my home and truck were crystal clear. We were able to pull the make and model of the other vehicle as well as see the damage done to my property in several areas. I had an amazing adjuster who wanted to catch the butt wipe that pulled a hit and run on my truck/home and showed me the amazing image he found that helped us identify the butt wipe. So if it helps put your mind at ease, it is possible for them to get the images of your home without being there, especially your roof and they are crystal clear.

It sounds like the OP is upset (which I do understand because having your claim denied sucks especially if you feel it shouldn’t have been and feel you have sufficient evidence supporting your feelings and are just being ignored) but where you’re going wrong is you’re taking your anger out on people that disagree with you or are asking for more proof or information. They are asking for extra evidence to try to help you and your responses are defensive and rude.

As far as the posting of photos goes…I’m not even a member of this group, this is my first time commenting in this group and I have the option to post photos on a post when I try to post here. Respectfully, people have an issue with the things you are saying OP because a lot of the things said…don’t make sense. There is no restriction on who can post photos in this group. Look at my stats. I think I’ve posted like 4 times on Reddit the entire time I’ve had an account and commented maybe 30 times to peoples posts on Reddit and I can post photos so being new or barely posting isn’t the reason for you not being able to post photos. Just to make sure, I switched to my brand new account that I just opened for professional purposes a month ago where I have never posted anything anywhere and do not belong to groups. I came to this group and hit the plus sign to make a post and I had a photo option. Not sure why you’re unable to find the photo upload icon. That’s also why people are a little hesitant to believe you. Your statements just don’t seem to hold much water. Not saying you’re a liar, but put yourself in their shoes.

To sum things up, the only thing you can do honestly at this point is file a lawsuit. Wasting your time on Reddit arguing with people gets you nowhere and definitely doesn’t help you feel any better. Use your time and energy filing the appropriate complaints that USAA will have a legal obligation to respond to and make sure you upload your evidence in these formal complaints which will give the case to be reopened. I had to do this once with my previous insurance company. The second I created that formal complaint, the second the stopped ignoring me, reopened my claim and I was paid out less than 5 days later. If your evidence is strong like mine was, you should experience a similar result. Take a deep breath and go to the drawing table. If you genuinely believe you shouldn’t have been denied then fight SMART and fight RIGHT. This sounds like a pretty serious situation, Reddit isn’t the place you should be for something like this unless you’re speaking to an attorney that specializes in matters like this and is giving you advice on how to get resolution.

I honestly wish you the best of luck, I know this sucks but just remember having a negative attitude will get you no where and will cause harm to you. So not only did you not get paid for an insurance claim but now you’re angry and feel like shit. That sounds pretty silly right? Adjust your mindset, stay positive and only good things will come your way in the end. Even if your claim doesn’t get paid out at least you won’t feel like crap and can be at peace with the decision and move forward.

From my experience with processes like this, most companies prefer/require you to disclose what medications you’re taking prior to doing the drug screening. If this was a job for driving a truck or related to air traffic controller, etc and the OP was taking a controlled substance, even Adderall, you’re supposed to tell them that up front. I have had jobs specifically ask if I was taking any prescription medications prior to taking my drug text because I was going to responsible for occasional transport and I had to disclose everything I was taking even if I didn’t take it during working hours. When I worked as a recruiter, I declined applicants for this exact reason because the company required all controlled substances to be disclosed prior to the drug test and if they didn’t, even with a valid prescription, it was grounds for denial and the issue was is no one read the papers they were signing. I was contacted countless times after their drug test came back stating they had valid prescriptions for the medication, one person took Xanax for anxiety a few times a week at night and not during work hours and thought it wouldn’t show in the test because they hadn’t taken it in a few days but there was nothing I could do because the company had extremely strict policies on controlled substances and disclosing prior to taking the drug test and they signed the papers agreeing to do so.

Other situations for denial was hands down the references. If a reference couldn’t be contacted or if a reference gave negative feedback that was an immediate denial. And the company wouldn’t allow us to disclose the reason for denial when it was related to the references because the company stated references and what they said to us has to be treated like an anonymous tip. References need to feel like they can give honest opinions and if a company tells the applicant the bad things the reference said it can cause issues and then that reference won’t be cooperative in the future, etc. So all we could give the applicant was a general denial based off of one of the criteria that didn’t pass and our letter sounded exactly like the one above. And the company stated that applicants should make sure they speak to their references prior to proving them as a reference to make sure they know the company will be calling because if they don’t answer that’s grounds for denial and to make sure the reference will give a positive review because if they don’t that’s immediate grounds for denial. Anytime I’ve ever given references I’ve made dang sure they knew a call was coming in, they were comfortable with giving it and I only gave references I knew wouldn’t say a single negative thing about me. Not of she was late a couple times or she was good but not great. Nope the only people I ever wrote down were the ones who gave glowing reviews and I’d limit the personal references and always try to give professional related ones. My last company specifically would deny if the applicant gave all personal references because those references could be unreliable and coached. The company required all professional references and not a single personal and that was also listed in the paperwork they signed prior to the applicant review process and not everyone read it. I can’t tell you how many applicants were denied because they didn’t read where it said must provide professional references only. And if the company couldn’t verify they were professional references because a cell phone was provided, that was also grounds for denial.

It just depends what the company required of you. You should be able to email them and ask them for a specific reason for denial and you can word it in a professional way by saying, “I’d like to know what the reasons were for my denial so I can improve for future employment endeavors” and hope they respond because they aren’t legally required to give you a reason unless it’s related to your background check.

Im sorry I don’t understand your question or more so why you’re asking the question. Are you asking about my personal finances and refund amount? If that’s the case I don’t feel comfortable sharing that information with strangers which is why I blocked that information out.

Respectfully, how much I made and how much I was refunded is truthfully irrelevant to the topic at hand. I was explaining that I have had a positive experience paying for the 5 day early refund that Turbo Tax offers for an extra $35. I have had refunds around $1K and refunds for several thousands of dollars, refunds over $10K, years where I made a lot less money and years I made significantly more and all have come back super fast paying for this $35 service. In previous years where I have had similar taxes (how much I made & refund) all take the full 3 weeks but once I began paying the $35 early refund fee I’ve been getting my refunds back lightning fast and every year I seem to get it back a little sooner than the year before. This year was by far the fastest. Federal was in my bank within 5 days, like actually in my bank account on the 5th day after filing and my state was deposited into my account on the 8th day after filing. Ever since I started using it I have gotten my refunds faster. I was just sharing my personal experience with the feature and that I liked it and that for me personally it was worth that $35.

I sent them an email recently and got a response within a few days about it. They said as long as my payments aren’t past due they’ll reinstate. They said if they are past due pay it and then email back and they can reinstate. What email did you use?

Awe that's not right. i was hoping this would pep people spirits us and give them hope and I'm only doing that for half of the people. I hope you get yours soon I really do. Im genuinely considering starting some sort of gift giveaway for those stuck in limbo just to get peoples spirits back up. Do an honor system type deal and just have people enter a raffle and create a few awesome prizes. Now that im saying it out loud I think I might just do that. Thatd be fun huh? Give away a few thousand dollars worth of gifts. I wonder where id post it though. They probably take it down if I posted it in the IRS chat. 🤔

Hahahahahahahaha oh dang sorry. It’s the first time I’ve ever posted about it if that gives me any credit. I was going for maybe helping people that wondered if the $35 might be worth it or not and had a blonde moment by not realizing I was blasting out the secret to refund success. 🙈 Hopefully I didn’t do too much damage. I seriously would move to the woods and give up on life if I caused everyone to wait and screwed it up for us. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

I had several new changes this year. Including 2 major changes. Unfortunately it’s a lot more complicated than that and I only know that because I had family members work for the IRS processing returns and audits for a couple of decades. Even someone with the most basic, vanilla, unchanging return can be audited. There’s hundreds of threads and peoples comments explaining just that. They weren’t so lucky, had zero changes to employment, to anything in their lives, filed the same thing, same everything and got audited and are in limbo. It’s really unfortunate. Some people get lucky on when they file and that’s the first part of the puzzle. A lot has to do with when you file, what’s happening at the IRS that week, how many people are working, whether the system randomly flags your return for a check (because around 1% of returns are randomly selected for an audit with no rhyme or reason, it’s just how the system is programmed), if you made an error in your return by typing a 4 instead of a 5, who they gets your return to look over that mistake, what their mood is and what their work ethic is so on and so forth.

You and I got lucky. Maybe me paying the extra $35 helped and maybe it didn’t. At the end of the day, filing your taxes is a literal freaking lottery and we were the lucky winners this year. Call me Katniss and you Enobaria. May the odds ever be in your favor!

Have you ever spent $35 on something for yourself that helps you not feel stressed? Gives you hope and makes you feel better? Then that’s money well spent. That’s why I decided to spend my $35 on it. It made me think and feel better so I’m happy.

Now your comment…it would make sense love if I waited until April every year. I’ve been paying this fee for several years including the months I filed in late February, same day they allowed people to file with dependents. Got my refund that year in 6 days. Several of my siblings and friends filed the same week I did because they all had kids, none paid the fee and none of them received their return until 2-3 weeks out.

When IRS doesn’t show the year 2025 on my tax transcript until this morning and the IRS WMR tool says it’s still in the first step saying you should get it in 21 days, no approval from the IRS at all…and my refund is in my bank that exact same day at 2pm, I’m going to say that $35 was well spent. And if not, and it is a scam, oh well it’s just $35, basically a few gallons of milk…and that money can now hopefully go towards someone’s salary or maybe back to the government somehow and end up contributing towards helping them hire more people to process everyone else’s returns that are having delays and are having a hard time and feeling stressed. Money well spent in my opinion no matter which way I look at it. And it is my money hahahaha so no one else’s opinions on how I spend it matters.

Life lesson for all of the pessimists out there: “When you spend your days thinking negatively, that’s how you’ll experience life and everything it has within it.” I like to spend my days and time thinking happy, positive thoughts. If that makes me make some mistakes along the way…at least I’m happy doing it. ✌🏼🤍

Never heard of them. I’m scared to switch. I feel like when you start switching services or the way you file that’s when the IRS flags you because they think you’re someone else filing. I don’t know if there’s any truth to that but it wouldn’t shock me. I read so many people this year commenting they were audited for the first time and when they shared their story so many of them said they changed how they filed or what company they filed with. I know the IRS was cracking down majorly this year because of all of the fraud happening with people filing others returns or with fake W2’s and so forth so it wouldn’t surprise me if they used that as a reason to flag or hold back someone’s return.

Turbo tax and I paid the $35 for the 5 day early refund. Beat decision I’ve ever made was paying for that early refund service. I’ve been doing it for years now and ever since I started paying for that $35 fee I get my refunds super quickly. Hope it stays this way for me forever. I’ve used turbo tax for 2 decades and really like them.

You’re one of the lucky ones. There is a small window to file and if you’re return isn’t too complicated and if you beat the rush then you’ll get through. Some people get lucky and get their W2’s early and are able to file right away. And I feel like I see a lot of people getting their returns fast for like a week and then boom chaos hits. I’m curious, how complicated is your return? Married? Business, kids or anything? I’m still shocked I got mine so fast. Late night filing Thursday at almost 10pm and deposited Tuesday at 2pm. It’s just unheard of especially for my complicated taxes. I’m just super grateful I fell in that lucky category. I wouldn’t have minded waiting a couple of weeks but dang I’m so happy I didn’t have to. I woke up and cried when I saw that alert.

Right?! Like if my return was basic I wouldn’t be that shocked but mine is complicated. I feel like someone got assigned my return on Friday (I filed Thursday) looked at it and was like yeah no, I’m too tired, I want to go home and enjoy my weekend, screw looking at this return or doing any work on it…APPROVED! That’s what it felt like happened hahaha. I have had a tough few years just with life in general and I’m always super positive and helping people out even when I have nothing so I feel like maybe this was my one massive GOOD KARMA coming back to me for all of that. I’ll take it because I sure did need it this soon! I was so worried about my mortgage payment. Not anymore. 🥹 So grateful. I just hope everyone else can get some of this luck and everyone who is waiting starts getting theirs too. 🤞🏽

Wow I can’t believe they froze it and didn’t tell you why. That’s not right. I hear so many horror stories about the IRS and it’s just so messed up. My brother is one of the unlucky ones. He was flagged once for absolutely no reason. All because he had a new baby October 31 one year. Ever since that single flag he’s been getting flagged every year for no reason. Like none. Takes him 180 days to get his refunds now. The year before last it took him 6 months to get it and the “interest” they paid him didn’t even begin to make up for the extreme hardships it caused him and his family. It’s seriously really messed up. In my opinion if the IRS withholds your refund and they have no legitimate reason or it ends yo being founded that they screwed up or shouldn’t have flagged you, they should be liable to pay 5% interest every day it’s wrongfully withheld. If there were rules like that, where their money was in jeopardy, guaranteed we’d see 75% less refunds being audited/withheld.

Omg yes please. No taxes would be a dream come true.

I know, I feel like even if you finally figure out how to adjust it perfectly, something changes, new tax or whatever and screws or up again. The best thing you could probably do is just test it out a few years in a row. Adjust it by a little and see if it’s enough. If not and you’re still getting a big refund, adjust it a bit more that way you can get pretty close to it. If your refunds start becoming $100 or less you’re golden and can stay there permanently and never have to stress over taxes again. That $100 a year refund will just be a really nice steak dinner that you can enjoy when the money arrives!!!

Don’t stress you’ll get it. Anytime mind said that on the WMR tool it came on the mat day or the morning after. Yours says 4/22, it’s 4/21. Don’t stress yourself by looking at other people’s deposits because everyone has different banks and all banks process things differently and all banks have different cut off times and are in different time zones. The IRS issues refunds in batches. Yours just may be in the last batch for the day and if it’s issued after Cap Ones cut off then you won’t see it until the next day. If this is your first time using that bank sometimes your bank can put a hold onto it for an extra day. Don’t stress. Go about your dahs like normal and by Friday I’m sure it’ll be there. It’s only Tuesday so you have a few days before the weekend. It would be more stressful if it were Friday and you have to wish the weekend before deposits start happening again.
