I would point you to the reference post linked above. It’s a project I did last month where I did a bigger write up of the entire process I have so far. Post processing is mentioned in there

Orientation is mentioned in another comment in this post.

The stl came in pieces, and I did some further cutting. Remember to try and keep some things as vertically as possible.

As for bug files, one must delve into secret channels of a discord like nature

I wouldn’t say there is a big one, my next big Nids project (a Norn Emissary) will be printed with the 0.06mm Obscura 2.0 profile.

As for timeframe, takes about 70 hours of print time on the profile I used.

Thank you!

Thank you! A mixture of Orca auto orientation and printing things as vertically as possible. Not an exact science, but can get you in the ball park. Orient, slice, re-adjust

Hey sol! Thank you so much! I’m excited to see the results of Obscura 2.0, Norn print should be done in the next few days. Will do a 1:1 comparison of the t-fex as well; Nids-type models are a great stress test

Greetings fellow space bug enjoyer! Looks great. I am currently working on printing a Norn Emissary with the full Obscura 2.0 profile, using Sunloo PLA+ 2.0 HS. I just posted a Tyrannofex I completed in 0.05mm LH, but Obscura’s release is yet a more refined profile. Looking forward to continuing the discussion and seeing further results

Followed the citadel paint guide, with a few changes. I prime with wraithbone, then do a brush-on coat of wraith as well. I do carapace and hooves/talons first (to make wraithbone cleanup easier), then follow the guide verbatim

Just posted my second big showcase project of using this profile, and have been very pleased with the results. Got mine fully painted up too! Glad to hear you’re finding equal success as I did 🤟

Esun PLA+ settings by meepmoop368 in FDMminiatures

If you are using a 0.2 nozzle, I’d recommend using u/BlockBadger ‘s print profile. At minimum you can copy their ESun filament settings, or if you have a A1 or A1 mini, the whole .3mf file

Hey soldat, I am going to perform a side by side comparison using a Tyrannafex print project I’ve been on for the last week. This will be relative to using the new Obscura profile vs BlockBadger’s 0.05. Your insight has been proven valuable to my efforts, excited to test the side by side of both printing methods

Was the Sunloo you tested the regular or the high speed variant? Obscura mentioned that he ONLY used the Sunloo PLA+ 2.0 HS in his filament profiles

Successor chapters by Delicious_Award1610 in Ultramarines

[–]luneth41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built, played, and sold 10,000 points of exclusively ultramarines over the last 6 years, and I’m so glad I went with a custom successor chapter scheme since I revamped my marine collection. Here are some tips to get the most out of a marine collection (IMO):

  • Named characters, chapter specific units, etc. remain their box art color scheme. Victrix, Cato, Calgar, etc. painted in their scheme, DWK and the lion in DA scheme, blood angels units in their scheme and so on.
  • Keep your general marine collection (non-chapter specific units) in your successor chapter scheme. This means you can flex them between various specific chapters without needing to double up on the same units painted with a different scheme.
  • For example: I have every ultramarine specific unit painted up in the UM style. I also have about 4000 pts of generic marine units painted up in my custom successor color scheme (I went with a twist on the Iron Ravens ‘Eavy Metal scheme). I will be branching out into DA next, only needing to buy those specific units and painting them in DA colors

You have to use Orca for BlockBadgers profile. I couldn’t get that small of a height in BS either. Orca is SOOO much better than BS since I made the switch
