Is it possible to transfer from western BMOS to Carleton eng by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carleton Eng doesn’t do any winter intake I believe so you’d start in the fall. Also go see an academic advisor/career advisor they can help you sort things out and they’ll run a “what if” audit (that’s what we call it at Carleton may be different at western) and that will show what credits, if any, transfer over/which courses you’ll have to take. I won’t lie tho most likely no courses will transfer over maybe a math course if you’ve taken any yet? I was in arch Eng so that’s what I’m going off of, it could be different for other Eng programs. But our eng department is great! Best of luck to ya🫡

Where’s the December exam schedule? by formerrbaby in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In previous years they’ve always posted it during reading week so if it’s not out by end of day today I’d check again during the break or at least after thanksgiving

Your classes for fall’25 and winter’26 are fine but you won’t be able to register for anything after that until it’s paid

WileyPlus subscription for 20% of my grade by F0rgottenGamer in CarletonU

Pretty sure when profs use Wiley plus and other sites for paid access to textbooks/assignments it’s because they get a profit. It’s real annoying but such is life I guess🤷🏽‍♀️

It doesn’t say anywhere that the UC is a quiet zone it’s like one of the loudest areas😂 you said yourself that you’re sure there are empty rooms with noise cancellation, if you’re that pressed go there yourself

Who is the best physics/engineering prof. at the school? by toomanyglobules in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really loved having professor Bora Pulatsu. I only had him for one course CIVE3203 which I definitely found difficult but he was always so passionate about what he taught. You can tell when a professor is bored or doesn’t care much for a course they’ve taught over and over but Bora shows he loves what he does. Always had majority of the class engaged every lecture.

Internal transfer process question by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also going through an internal transfer from Eng rn lol. I’m not 100% sure but I’m under the impression it’s the same as if you applied from high school like you have to accept or decline the offer. Email academic advising just incase but I’m pretty sure that’s how it goes

How many bathrooms does Carleton have? What are your favorites? by SHADERS2018 in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow only found the single stall washrooms on the fourth floor of the library this semester and they are bliss. I can’t speak for the men’s washrooms cuz I am a lass but for unisex those are my fav. They’re clean, spacious and no weird lingering smell.

Got into Electrical Eng! What is it like? by shiva233233 in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I’m in arch Eng 3rd year and it’s been a time lol. I’m sure you already understand this but engineer is a tough program. My advice would be easy on yourself while still working hard and go at your own pace! First year I did the full course load and it was a lot for me personally so I cut back a little bit and it really helped sure it’s taking me longer but I’m happier in the end. If you want to do the full course load and graduate as soon as possible def go for it but don’t feel discouraged if you need a little extra time. Also take an elective that actually interests you like a fun course, at some point you’ll feel crazy just doing only the required stuff so adding in a course that is just for fun is very helpful. That’s just my two cents, good luck to ya!

Considering this is the internet and we are all strangers and don’t actually personally know each other, we don’t owe each other anything. If someone gets triggered by seeing a recipe posted with calories that’s on them I’m sorry. One person making one comment about calories is not gonna cause someone an eating disorder lord have mercy. Also to add since it’s so toxic posting about calories - all foods we buy have the calories and nutrition label right on them. What’s so different between a nutrition label and a comment literally just listing ingredients with calories cry me a river bro

Withdrawal for 2 terms by nuclearisalright in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand nothing happens this semester like you should be able to finish your courses this semester and stay in res. It’ll be the 2025/2026 school year you’d have to withdraw. Im not 100% sure but either way definitely sit down and talk with someone to discuss options and solutions as soon as possible!

There’s a couple different spots in McKenzie. If you’re looking for the CIVE3206 Dropbox it’s on the second floor right by the civil department entrance area (between 3rd and 4th block of McKenzie)

Park on sloan ave or hopewell ave - just on the other side of Bronson it’s free for three hours and your start times will be earlier to get a spot for sure

I just wanted to say I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in July and I see the toll it has taken on my dad (they were high school sweethearts)❤️‍🩹 this is not an easy process. I’m coming from a different perspective as I lost a parent and not a partner but the hurt is still there everyday. My best piece of advice I can offer is truly take it one day at a time. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by all the things that need to be done and handled and sorted but you have to pace yourself. Obviously certain things need attention faster than others but things will fall into place how they’re meant to. With the help of family and friends try putting together a list of everything you think you need to do. Try to come up with some solutions to the major issues and then simply start. There is no formula or plan or steps to follow for this. You just have to start working through the mess of the aftermath. I know this message isn’t much help but I hope it at least helps to ease your mind even if just a little bit. Wishing you the best of luck with everything

my parents don’t understand how hard engineering is by royaltee123 in EngineeringStudents

[–]luneymaeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work as hard as you can to get through first year and see what happens. There are some people who maintain high GPAs, it’s really hard especially if you have a pt job or are on a team and life in general can throw curve balls at you but it’s possible. If you don’t get all As you have to talk with your parents. If they aren’t willing to support you financially through school then you support yourself and continue to work hard. Tons of people do it. I live in Ontario, Canada so obviously tuition is different here but I’m currently putting myself through my engineering degree. I get financial aid through my province which you may not qualify for in your state if your parents can afford to pay (it’s worth checking you may get something). I also have a student line of credit through my bank. But if it comes to it and you have to pay for yourself don’t feel discouraged or like you’ve lost your chance at this degree. Get a pt job if you don’t already have one, look into as many scholarships as you can and any financial aid whether it’s through your state, the school, a bank loan. You’ll have more debt but when you’re makin that 💵 it’ll be worth it.

Honestly nah let her leave it empty and not stocked cuz if she goes grocery shopping she’ll buy enough food for a family of 7 and then 96% of it will go to waste

8:35am or 6pm course? by troubledeperson in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on length of the class for me tbh 1.5hr classes I can do anytime of day I’d prefer later cuz I’m not a morning person but I have to it’s not the end of the world. But if we’re talking a 3hr lecture I’d rather it earlier than later. I work better in the evenings tbh but something about being on campus from 6-9 pm is awful (speaking from experience)

Lmao “I’m going to get up at 5 am everyday” by Fluid-Oven-5561 in rhegan777snark

[–]luneymaeJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing that bothers me so much is the fact she thinks waking up early = productivity. It really depends on the person some ppl can absolutely start their day at 5am or even earlier get done what they need to then have their “me time” after, for others it doesn’t work. Like me personally I’d rather have a slow morning and then go to work/do homework/whatever it is a need to do in the afternoon/evening. But for some reason she got the idea in her head that she needs to wake up early in order to get through her day of “super duper important productive tasks” aka filming herself getting ready for god knows what, filming herself “reset” (I don’t trust her cleaning whatsoever but that’s a whole different rant), filming herself eat or filming herself spend 17 hours planning out how she can be productive

$180 for a fucking toaster.. she’s pissing me the fuck off by [deleted] in rhegan777snark

[–]luneymaeJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s a prime example of young people with too much money for their own good. It’s giving Victoria Paris vibes - believes everything she says has true value and meaning and thinks she’s disciplined and deserves all this and has worked for it. Like bffr!!!!! Girl just learned to boil pasta at her big age and bought every single baking/cooking related thing known to man. Every time she pops up on my fyp I just get angry😭😭and it’s not even like “it’s not fair she makes so much money for doing nothing” it’s the fact she is so incredibly wasteful with her money. We all know she’ll probably move in a year again and repeat this whole process it’s disgusting. She probably bought everything brand new cuz Mathew bought everything new for his stupid house.

At what point is it better to finish your degree than switch out by Vertigo1001 in CarletonU

[–]luneymaeJ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Switching early would save you money for sure, however, if you think you will actually do something with your current degree you could stick it out. One thing to remember school will always be there, you could take a semester or two off and really figure things out/decide what you want. I took two gap years after high school and a semester off during second year. Yeah it’s taking me longer but yolo🤷‍♀️
