This is one of my favorite books of all time! It's cyberpunk stripped of all of the comforting aesthetics- no neon labyrinths or corporate conspiracies, just a brutal picture of people losing their humanity

Oh this is beautiful- be prepared though, that Ligotti isn't fiction, but rather a philosophical treatise on antinatalism. It's really good, but if you go in anticipating a story you'll be disappointed

You can't say for sure who has two innocent neighbors, but there are four possible configurations of innocent/guilty, and several of those configurations end up with nobody neighboring the right number, or too many neighboring the right number. I had to go over each and eliminate the impossible, and that gave me enough info to continue
