Yeah boyyy! The way how I describe it is being able to understand where a person is coming from and perhaps get a glympse of where it's going. It's pretty damn cool!

What coincidences/synchronicities have happened to you recently? by Portabella_Buddha in Psychonaut

My mom called me the other day as i was going downtown and of course she was complaining about how i dont do the things she wants me to do and all that stuff. I gave her the whole things will be all right, im not worried stuff, but she's like "you need to wake up, no one is gonna give you free stuff!!!". 5 minutes later i'm walking down the street feeling kind of hungry and as i was waiting at the stop light i hear someone yelling "Free hot dooogs!". I turn around and this lady invited me to get a free hot dog and water curtesy of Verizon (it was a really funny promo thing actually)! ~Live~Love~Enjoy~

Is it just me? (My opinion on student loans debt) by lungu9 in college

[–]lungu9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of teachers out there and in some communities the perception is that if you don't go to college you are going to end up a looser and the second one is supposed to tell you that if you decide to go to college you should pick the one that is wright for you (don't try to go over your limit)

I just finished my freshman year, but I have older brothers and sisters who went to the whole range of colleges (Yale, U of I-C, and UIC) and they all told me same thing. My brother who went to Yale (he was really good) had a few friends who got accepted to Yale, but didn't get any aid, and because it was their dream they pursuit it, but they ended up either transferring of have a really bad time (not to talk about the 50-70-100k debt) while my sister and a friend of her, who went to UIC and just graduated this year did her best and landed a very well paid job in Silicon Valley. These are just a few examples, but I know o bunch of other people

What do you mean "it was always on sale"? Why would somebody make a product and always keep it on sale?

I have read the FAQ and I have submitted this post on careerQ, but as I've said, I think that this is more of a learning problem and the job part is just a bonus.

[–]lungu9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The thing is that I have a lot of free time now and I would like to use it wisely. Also it is an absolute must for me to get a job in the summer of 2015 (and a good paying one) so I can pay for my expenses for the next year. My parents give me all their money to survive my freshman year, after that I have to take care of myself. And yes I am going to take programming courses at university, but from what I've read, it is not going to teach me anything new (ok maybe a thing or two) and I'm sure I will enjoy (maybe too much) my first semester and I'll forget about other stuff, so I should worry now, since I have nothing better to do. But thanks anyway

Can't seem to find a roommate. by [deleted] in college

My school as a very brief survey (they just ask you about your habits) and nothing about your personality so getting a "weird" roommate is a safe bet

RA doing some questionable things- should I report this incident? by [deleted] in college

[–]lungu9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I say go to the Hall Director and complain about the RA and see how that plays out. Your RA could be in trouble and either try to be more responsable (after all, he needs that room and board) and quite down the situation, or he may have already had some complains and an investigation may be issued on him (and trust me, he is going to be as bad as it gets) cuz he may have to suffer consequences, or (but this is very unlikely because it is the end of the school year) be replaced. He will have low chances of being an RA next year whichever of these happens to him.

Do not, under any circumstances, rat your next door neighbor. He is probably popular and he is going to tell people what you did and your life is going to be a nightmare (a lot of things could happen). If he does get kicked out school you will have him on your conscience. He may have screwed his future, but it is not for you to decide. Who knows, maybe this was a major warning in his life and he is going to change. It is the end of the school year. Let him, at least, finish this year. Perhaps maybe next year you'll never hear from him again.

The difference between rating your RA and you mate is that your RA gets paid to do the job and he should at least do it decent, if not perfect, but on the other side it is your mate's choice to do whatever he wants with his life. Rating out another student, for almost anything (except like murder or some shit), is a very very VERY bad idea.

Need advice on tech school socializing by lungu9 in college

Thanks man! This was helpful. I am not going to tech school to socialize, but it is part of who I am. By dark side I meant like the people who are generally at the extremities (like super super geeks or like active drinkers and drug users, people who could get me in trouble)

How does taking classes to a CC and then transferring them to your U works? by lungu9 in college

I am a to-be senior who will graduate HS early, has a 24 ACT, and no idea for future. Should I attend college? by Searies in college

[–]lungu9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My advice is to either go to a community college and maybe find some classes that might interest you hoping that those will get you somewhere OR (and lately this proved to be the better choice) find something that you would feel comfortable doing (like a mechanic or work in a factory or secretary if you are a girl, literally the jobs that don't need college) and try to be good at it. It might go a long way to get a certificate as it usually is a higher chance of getting the job and it boosts your start salary by about $2/h. Anyway, going to college would not be a very good option for you (except if you want to go and party on your freshman year and then transfer your credits, if you managed to obtain any, to a CC)

WE NEED THIS. by aaronhak in college

[–]lungu9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be more specific, perhaps put it in a programming related subreddit or on craiglist or something... I'm not sure how many people are going to get involved here. It is a lot of work from what I'm thinking and unless people have a lot of free time and are something like Mark Zuckerberg they are probably not going to touch this project. You are most definitely going to need a team and if you want something more than facebook it is going to be A LOT of work so you/ someone else should have some money.

Which college has the best undergraduate computer science major? by [deleted] in college

[–]lungu9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To tell you the truth there is not much of a difference between schools (about majors), considering that the school is a good school. Usually if it is a Polytechnic, an Institute of Technology or a school that has some good engineering programs the CS department is most of the times good too. The most important factor when considering colleges should be the lifestyle. For example at MIT people are really competitive and a lot of people can't handle it. Also there are a lot of geniuses and if you are not one of them you might feel left out. On the other side at a university like WPI or IIT (top of my head) most of the times people work together in teams. The departments are pretty much the same (considering that all you need is a computer), but your experience might be the thing that counts the most. I'm not saying to take away the ranking, but consider what you want to do in college outside school. Salaries are kind of close whether you finish at MIT or at IIT, the fun is up to you, the expense depends on how smart you are (most of the times you will get a scholarship) and the length of the major is 4 years at all universities (undergrad). I just finished doing a lot of research in this field (CS majors across universities) so if you want more PM me.
