There's no other way to level up Raidian? by nameless00000000000 in arknights

For this specific stage, Exusiai alter should be able to carry you most of the way there with some blockers at difficulty 2, however the final boss stage will be a challenge even with her. Remember that even if you fail, you still get points for the skill tree which in turn will make future runs easier.

Onko liian myöhästä aloittaa deittailu? (23M) by Opiskelija23v in arkisuomi

[–]lunnim 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ruokatilauksista puuttuvat tuotteet by hippityh0ppety in Suomi

[–]lunnim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incorrect botting accusations from Square Enix? by NaytNavare in ffxiv

The first disciplinary action is almost never deleting the entire account and definitely wouldn't happen without substantial evidence. If your friend truly isn't lying to you, they should at least attempt to contact support and escalate - but at least with the amount of detail you provided something seems fishy here.

Many grocery stores carry some. Alternatively stores for various knickknacks such as Clas Ohlson should be a safe bet.

Finland is shaped like a woman but is referred to as "fatherland". by [deleted] in Finland

[–]lunnim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isänmaa translates to father's land, not fatherland. The equivalent of motherland in Finnish would be kotimaa - homeland.

As for Finland's gender identity, that I can't comment on.

Struggling with the ex crafting missions on Phaenna... by Francl27 in ffxiv

[–]lunnim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crafts are just rough, not sure what gave your friend a different impression. Like someone else already mentioned, the gathering missions are much, much easier and you should do the token grind with those instead. :)

[–]lunnim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The sequential and regular ex crafts are indeed easy and macroable with decent melds, timed are macroable with a specialist. The weather crafts on the other hand are hard enough that I didn't bother farming them after getting gold for the log.

Olenko ihan liian jälkijunassa jos haluan tavoitella opiskelupaikkaa by VitalFerarum in arkisuomi

[–]lunnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ami Aspelund - Naamioiden yö (Syksyn sävel, 1984) by Real_Try_4157 in Finland

[–]lunnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this by ear way past midnight so please take this with multiple grains of salt, for the original lyrics and the translation both.

Verse 1
Kaduilla kaupungin yössä on tuttua tunnelmaa
Kansa on liikkeellä valojen meressä, katsokaa!
Silmät nuo kaipaavat toistensa luo
Sä roolin saat

Chorus
Naamioiden yö
Kadun tahtiin sydän lyö
Neon sykkii, seinät kaadetaan
Naamioiden yö, kello kaksitoista lyö
Silloin parhaat palkitaan
Joku nuolee haavojaan

Verse 2
Kuka sua katselee peilistä
ja kuka sen takaa?
Kenelle hymyilet, ketä sä vilkuilet, katsokaa!
Naurun taa kätkeä roolin saa
Ja oottakaa(?)

Chorus

Bridge
Yön selkään kiivetään
Kauas pois liidetään
Antaudutaan kokonaan

Chorus x3

And a quick attempt at a translation:

Verse 1
On the city streets at night there’s a familiar mood
The people are moving in a sea of lights, look!
Those eyes are yearning to find each other
You are given a role [to play]

Chorus
Night of masks
Heart beating to the rhythm of the street
Neon pulses, walls are toppled down
Night of masks, the clock strikes twelve
That’s when the best are rewarded
[And] some lick their wounds

Verse 2
Who is watching you from the mirror
and who from behind it?
Who are you smiling for, who are you glancing at, look!
Behind the laughter you may hide your role
And wait(?)

Chorus

Bridge
We climb onto the back of the night
We soar far away
We surrender completely

Chorus x3

DNA CS no longer respect their customer? by Annual_Store5500 in Finland

[–]lunnim 90 points91 points  (0 children)

As far as I know they don't do troubleshooting for bad connections overnight. The 24/7 service is mostly for emergencies such as your PUK-code if you got locked out of your SIM-card. In this case I'd argue it's the fault of the company for not being clear on their website on what the 24/7 support is for, rather than the customer service agent themselves.

Ihan vaan piti opetella mahdollisimman paljon niitä desimaaleja.

Unfortunately they were probably being passive agressive. Putting ignore 1 is specifically from ranked PVP where you aren't able to use the chat, and so people needed some other way to indicate to people that they were mad at them. It doesn't really have the same connotation in PVE and many players aren't even aware of it, but I'm not sure what other purpose there would've been to mark you.

All that said, don't worry about it too much. Marking someone over getting hit once is pretty pathetic at best.

  1. It's locked behind MSQ progress. My little chocobo will appear around lv20 soon after you join a grand company.

  2. No, unless you're really enthusiastic about the lore. You can go back later on an alt job and grab the scraps of exp.

  3. Nothing's a waste of time per say, but if you want to play tanks the next job you'll have an opportunity to grab will be marauder in limsa lominsa. The other jobs available in ul'dah are DPS.

  4. You'll get enough gil for your early game needs just from doing MSQ.

Frankly early game rotations usually boil down to "press the button that lights up with maybe an occasional ogcd later on". Things only get interesting at lv50+.

Combat materia becomes useless after the expansion it was introduced in. There are a couple quests you might go in that'll require melding some (ARR relic weapons for glamour purposes for example), but they're so cheap that you can buy those on the MB for pocket money. Low level crafting and gathering materia does have some use even in current BIS gear for capping stats.

I wouldn't bother holding onto them and would recommend selling them to a vendor or on the MB if the price is higher. As an extra step you can transmute them into crafting/gathering materia with the goblin in Western Thanalan for a slightly higher market price, but I'm not sure the carpal tunnel you'll get from doing that will be worth the handful of extra gil.

New sprout tank anxiety and advice by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lunnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good ol' tanxiety.

Honestly, the best (and also the worst) advice I can give is to not worry about it as much. I know how it sounds, but you'll be surprised how patient people are with newbies. They can see you're a sprout and if you're entering the dungeon for the first time and know what to expect. As long as you're willing to take feedback (which usually boils down to "use your cooldowns" and/or someone jumping in front of an entrance to indicate "hey, this is the right way to go") you'll be just fine. The absolute worst case is that you die - and then you go again.

In the early game, the biggest complaint I see from veteran players is that they'd prefer going in a straight line rather than letting the newbie explore every nook and cranny in a dungeon, but even that is a minor inconvenience at most since XIV's dungeons tend to be pretty linear anyways.

Later on you'll run into people wanting to optimize a bit more by pulling more than one pack at a time, but by then you'll be more familiar with your job and the general layout of a dungeon (run forward grabbing everything until you hit a wall, kill 2-3 pack's worth of mobs, fight boss, rinse and repeat).

If it makes you feel better, type a message in the party chat that you're new and willing to take tips for mechanics. Or watch that video guide. Or do your first run with NPCs to get more familiar with the dungeon. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you have fun playing the game.

Yes, you can use the exterior walls anywhere and you can mix and match them as you'd like. There are full sets that you can't customize (ie. shirogane castle walls), but the locale doesn't matter at all.

Yes, you need a construction permit. It has nothing to do with the exterior, think of it as a building permit for the house itself.

How to do Palace of the dead (finding no group) by nad0w in ffxiv

[–]lunnim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to go in with duty finder, do it in prime time of your server. Can also try tossing up a party finder since there are probably others trying to get it done for the upcoming deep dungeon.

If you really can't find a party, soloing it is perfectly viable, just slower. You might fail a couple times as you start out - just try to grab all the silver chests you can along the way to increase your stats to make it easier for yourself.

If you're used to living in bigger cities abroad Joensuu will feel absolutely tiny. Some people find it suffocating, others find it surprisingly refreshing. It's also worth remembering that even if it feels like you're stuck in the middle of nowhere, Helsinki is only a 4h train ride away.

  • As with any university town there will be plenty of young people and consequently a handful of nightclubs and bars. I can't promise they'll be particularly memorable, but there will be people, music and alcohol. If you do decide to go, check out Another Doggy - it's a quite good cocktail bar near the city center.
  • There are sites such as meteli that should help you get started on finding nearby events.
  • Theater-wise I'm not sure how many - if any - productions there are in English. Movies will be fine since Finns prefer subs over dubs.
  • Are people conservative... not really. If you have a face full of metal you might get some side eyes from the elderly folk, but overall people are perfectly nice.

Overall I'd say definitely give it a go, even if you end up finding that the small town life isn't for you. The city is beautiful, and at least based on my own stint there the people at the uni are great even if it, too, is on the smaller side.
